Dear Steele Families,
I hope you all had a wonderful, restful Thanksgiving break. It was so great to be back with kids this week! Everyone seems well rested and excited to be back.
This Wednesday we held our December Stallion Stampede. Each class read the book Thanks a Million by Nikki Grimes and reflected on the following:
Big Idea:
- I can reflect on important people in my life and find ways to show my gratitude.
Focus Questions:
- Who am I most grateful for in my life?
- How can I show someone my gratitude?
- Which is more powerful, showing or telling?
We will continue our focus on gratitude for the rest of December and students will be adding what they are grateful for to our community snowman.
Caught in the Act Winners will return next week:)

Have a great weekend!

Colorado Gives Day:
Thanksgiving may be behind us, but we remain thankful for the amazing Steele community!
Community First Foundation and FirstBank are partnering to present Colorado Gives Day - an annual statewide movement to celebrate and increase philanthropy in Colorado through online giving.
|
Thank You!
To those who have contributed to the Steele PTA through the Casino Royal Fall Fundraiser and through donations, we sincerely thank you.

Opportunity to Give
Colorado Gives Day is a great day to make your contribution. There are flexible payment options to accommodate any budget. You can schedule a one-time payment for December 7th or recurring monthly payments to spread out the investment. This is a great day to encourage friends and family to support Steele.
It’s not too late to contribute -- the more money Steele raises on Colorado Gives Day the more we will receive from the Community First Foundation's million dollar incentive fund.
Your investment ensures that Steele is a school where the needs of all students are met, and a rich education that includes the arts is a reality. Any surplus of funds is applied toward, but not limited to, expanded technology in each classroom and supporting vital resource positions.
Corporate Matching
Does your employer match your donations to nonprofits (501c3)? If they do, you can double your impact by using your employer’s donation matching program.

Enrichment Brochure for Winter Session:
Extended Learning is extremely excited to announce our Winter Enrichment course offerings. Below you will find the
link to the brochure for Winter Session which begins on 1/10. It is important to note that due to extreme staffing shortages for many of our providers, as well as the current guidelines we must operate off of, we are still running smaller program offerings than you are used to seeing. We are still working with some providers and may add them after today, so please check the brochure again prior to the start of registration for updates.
Registration will open December 6th at 8am to give families time to prepare.

Veteran Donations:
A HUGE Thank You to the Steele Community for your kind and generous donations towards supporting our veterans. This year, we were able to raise a grand total of $812.17 for our Veteran/PJ Day! WOW & Way to Go! Since we were able to raise so much money, we split our donation to Forgotten Heroes Campaign and K9s For Veterans which were voted on by the students.
Congratulations for being a BIG part of supporting our veterans. Thank you for your support and donations! It was a HUGE success this year and I'm so proud. - Stephanie Grahf

From the Health Office:
Many of our students have received their COVID vaccinations. Once your child has received their second dose please share a copy of their vaccination card with the health office. You can either make a hard copy and drop it by the school or you can email a copy to Andy, our nurse. Once students are two weeks past their second dose they will not need to quarantine unless they have symptoms.
|
Yearbook Volunteers Needed:
Do you love the idea of a yearbook at Steele? If you are someone who wants it to be an offering and (most importantly) are interested in helping to make it happen, email Jenine. Currently we have no one coordinating, so yearbooks won't be an option this year unless you volunteer! It is a great "committee" or co- position, so hopefully, we will have a few interested volunteers who can work together.
|
Steele Community Action Team (S.C.A.T.):
It’s time for our 7th Annual Children’s Hospital Penny Pot Project! Please send your spare change or cash donation to school with your student beginning today through Friday, December 10th. There are penny pots in every classroom, and the class with the most donations will win a hot cocoa and PJ party in the month of January. Thank you so much for your participation! For questions contact Julie Lees or Sarah Almy.
