Dear Steele Families,
Thank you to all of you who joined us for our community conversation about the looping model at Steele. We had a great attendance and also received great participation from the survey. We value all family's opinions and wanted to ensure everyone had the opportunity to be heard. In general, the comments at the meeting and in the survey supported an end to the looping model. As expected, there were some families who hoped to see the looping model continue and had some questions about other programming options. We responded to all questions here.
As a school, we have decided to disband the looping model effective the 22/23 school year. Here is what you can expect:
- All classes will be reconfigured using parent feedback and teacher and staff information.
- We will have a Move Up Day in May where all students will meet their new class and their new teachers.
- We will be straight grade K-5. There will be no split programming.
- We will communicate which teachers are teaching each grade level once we complete that process as a school. We expect to have this process completed by spring break.
One thing that really stood out on the survey and in our conversations about looping is that what our community values is the opportunity to develop deep relationships between teachers, staff, and students. We are committed to finding ways to ensure that relationships and connection continue to be one of the things that make Steele special.
Thanks for your understanding and support. We realize this decision won’t make everyone happy but we do believe that we are moving forward in the best way possible for our students and staff.
