All Saints Day - Revelation 21:5a

Holy Communion Sunday

And the One who sat upon the throne said,

“Behold, I make all things new.” - Revelation 21:5a

In funeral and memorial services we claim God’s promises for those we love who have passed over. Death has been defeated. The mortal has put on immortality. Those we love have passed over into God’s promise where illness and grief, dementia and death are no more.

This Sunday, as we celebrate All Saints Sunday, we will remember those of our congregation who have passed over since All Saints Sunday 2022. Names will be read. Bells will toll. We will celebrate Holy Communion. And we will again claim God’s promise to make all things new.

As we do this, we will also consider what God’s promise to make all things new means in our own lives, and indeed for our world. Yes, we proclaim a message of hope for those who have died. Can we also proclaim a message of hope for those who survive? Can we proclaim a message of hope for our broken world?

We can. And we will!

I look forward to worshipping with you this Sunday. Whether you do so in-person or online, I hope you will join us for our special All Saints Sunday worship.

Peace,

Pastor Shawn

Greatness: More Than Conquerors

Romans 18:35-39

Whether you’ve been following the Detroit Lions’ best season in a generation, gearing up for the release of Ridley Scott’s Napoleon, or keeping up on episodes of The Great British Bake Off, there’s something about greatness that captures the human imagination. We aspire to it, we’re intimidated by it, our history is defined through it. And yet, the pages of Scripture reveal differences in how God sees greatness. This Sunday, November 5, we explore what it means to be “more than conquerors.” Stick around after worship and join us downstairs for a Pancake Breakfast fundraiser for Cass Tiny Homes.
