IMPACT: The Present Reality - Romans 12:1-2

Dear Friends,

This Sunday, October 15, we begin a three-week sermon series to usher in our Generosity Campaign for 2024. As we continue our focus on Romans 12:1-2, I'll preach the sermon, Impact: The Present Reality. This sermon examines why the Apostle Paul admonishes Roman Christians to distinguish between conforming to lifestyles of the secular world and following the call of God. This admonition is as relevant and necessary for Christians today as it was for them almost two-thousand-years ago in the city of Rome.

When God has laid a claim on your life and you have accepted to follow Jesus Christ, you are to distinguish between the demands of secular life and the responsibilities of Christian discipleship. The mission of Christ in the world relies on the witness of Christian disciples. Each Christian, and the whole Church, must provide authentic witness to the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ. God’s claim on us impacts our witness to others. That divine impact changes the trajectory of our lives and the condition of the world.

Throughout this year our congregation has concerted its efforts toward making a positive impact on the lives of so many people – in places like Pontiac, Detroit, Tennessee and Kentucky to places like India, Czech Republic, Ghana, Honduras, Cuba, and Liberia around the world. Without authentic Christian witness, our world is left to experience the devastation of war in places like Palestine and Israel, Ukraine and Russia, Haiti, Myanmar and Mali.

Come, let us worship together and imagine a world where peace is not only possible but real. I will be looking for you at 9:30 a.m. in-person or online, and at 11:00 a.m. in-person. Sunday School and Nursery Care are available at 9:30 a.m. Nursery Care is available at 11:00 a.m.

I look forward to worshipping with you this Sunday.

The Rev. Dr. Charles S. G. Boayue, Jr.

Senior Pastor

IMPACT: Transformation

Romans 12:1-2

We are entering a season of great IMPACT at Berkley First! This Sunday, we will explore the transformation that God wants to bring about in our hearts, minds, and communities. We will also see that transformation in action as Kindergarteners and 3rd Graders receive Bibles from the church, and as we celebrate together the baptism of Samuel Price. God is up to good things – and each one of you are a crucial part of it.
