Will and his wife Ella have been connected with our Missions Ministry since 2008, when they were living in Costa Rica as missionaries with the Methodist Church there. Our Missions Ministry was an important early partner with the building of the Methodist Children’s Home, as well as a supporter of the Seminary. Will now directs the Wesley Heritage Foundation, providing Spanish-language resources for Methodist churches throughout the Americas, particularly in the areas of translation and teaching. He sees much hope for a renewed and reinvigorated Methodism through connections between English- and Spanish-speaking brothers and sisters, as they share lessons from God‘s work in their midst.

Altar Flowers

The Altar Flowers are dedicated to the glory of God and in loving memory of Deborah Garabedian by Diane, David, Susan Dawson, Taylor, Danielle and Alexandra Garabedian and Gary, Diane and Sky Miettunen.

We celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism when we are initiated into Christ's holy Church. Through baptism we are incorporated into God's mighty acts of salvation and given new birth through water and the Spirit. This Sunday we will celebrate God's gift, offered to us without price.

Our prayers of joy are shared with Jason and Carly Wilbur as we celebrate the baptism of their daughter, Larkin Josephine.

The God who promises to be with us through all the seasons of life also promises freedom and forgiveness. This Sunday, Pastor Zack will explore what it looks like to embrace these promises in our relationships with God, self, and others.

Shine a light on sickle cell disease by donating blood on Tuesday, September 19 between 12:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. in the CLC.

New! You Can Use an IRA Rollover to Fund Gift Annuity

The SECURE 2.0 Act of 2022 included a provision for individuals over age 70 1/2 interested in transferring up to $50,000 to a charitable annuity arrangement to benefit themselves and Birmingham First. SECURE 2.0 permits a taxpayer to make a one-time $50,000 distribution directly from an IRA or IRAs to a charitable annuity and make a one-time election to treat the contributions as if they were qualified charitable distributions made directly to a charitable entity.  For more information, contact Rev. The NOAH Project in Detroit is hosting it’s annual Sock-it-to-Me September Sock Drive collecting packages of new socks and underwear (men's boxer briefs) to share with their clients throughout the upcoming winter months. Impact your faith this year with a new discipleship series being offered by our clergy team. Topics will include the Bible, Methodism, Christian History, Theology, and Christian Ethics. Each class will meet for five-weeks and will be offered at both campuses so you can choose when and where you would like to be a part of this awesome experience. Childcare is available for children birth through 5th grade. Middle School and High School students are welcome to be childcare helpers for these classes. Registration is now open for the first two classes: Bible at the Birmingham campus and Methodism at the Berkley campus.
