     FROM OUR PTSA PRESIDENT

Dear Steinbrenner Students, Families, and Teachers,

On behalf of the PTSA Board, welcome back to our returning families!  To our new families, welcome to the Steinbrenner community!  We hope you enjoyed the summer, and we are enthusiastic for another exciting and successful school year.

I hope that each of you have managed to get your lives back together after the passage of Hurricane Irma.  Please be patient with us as we get organized now that school is back in session.

We have had to reschedule our first general body meeting of the year and the new date is Thursday, September 28th starting at 5:30pm.  We look forward to seeing you there.

The PTSA is a nonprofit organization run by volunteers who provide valuable support, services and programs to the Steinbrenner High School Community, its teachers and students.   All of us want our children to be heard, supported, and encouraged and to be and do their very best during their time in high school.  The PTSA provides the revenue and support for many programs that are offered at the school throughout the year.  Since we are a volunteer based, not-for-profit organization, we spend only what we make and ask for only what will help to contribute to these programs.

The majority of our revenue comes from membership dues - but you can donate as well ~ and not just your money ~ we need your time.   I encourage you to sign up for membership with the PTSA.  You can sign up at your convenience using our website, http://www.steinbrennerptsa.org/membership .

We look forward to getting to know your family.  Visit our website often (www.steinbrenneerptsa.org) to find out what's happening and how you can help.  We will be participating in School of Excellence this year and have other new programs that we hope you will get involved with.

If you would like to contact me directly, feel free to email me at:  gshsptsapresident@gmail.com.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!

Dear Families,

The Steinbrenner PTSA knows that a strong partnership among our families, school leaders and community members is important to the success of our students and school. That's why we are participating in the National PTA School of Excellence program, which grows partnerships between PTAs and schools to enrich the educational experience and overall well-being of all students.

As a National PTA School of Excellence, families feel welcomed and empowered to support student success, and PTA is a key partner for continuous school improvement.  We feel Steinbrenner High school and PTA can achieve that together-and the result will be national, state and community-wide visibility for the positive impact we are making together at Steinbrenner.

We need your help! As part of the process, National PTA requests feedback from families at two points in the school year-the beginning and the end. Your feedback will help National PTA generate a customized Roadmap to Excellence for us, which will provide specific recommendations for improving our family-school partnership and achieving excellence.

Please take 5 minutes to reflect on your experience at this school and complete the survey (link below). Just click the circle that most accurately expresses how you feel about your experience. This survey is completely anonymous. Please complete this survey online by October 1.

Does this sound like a PTA program you'd like to help with? Join us! Contact us to learn more.

Sincerely,
Kelly King, GSHS Principal

PLEASE JOIN OUR PTSA!
Thank you to those of you who joined the Steinbrenner PTSA at Open House and through the First Day Packets! We had a great response, but we have not, yet, reached our goal.

PTSA is an organization of parents, teachers, students, administrators, and community members who work to help shape and enhance the education, learning environment, and experiences of our children. Research shows that when parents are involved, students have increased motivation, higher self-esteem and better school attendance, which leads to higher grades and better test scores.

By joining PTSA you are not obligating yourself to take an active role, but you are helping to support PTSA's goals and objectives. As an individual or family member, you positively impact the Steinbrenner community and your child's academic growth. Your membership dollars and donations help fund the programs at Steinbrenner.
Our PTSA sponsors many programs each year that benefit all students and teachers. Some of these are: Freshman Camp/Orientation, Honor Roll Incentives, World of a Teen, Senior Awards Banquet, Senior Scholarships, Back to School Teacher Breakfast, Teacher Appreciation Week, and Teacher Grants.

Please join online at www.steinbrennerptsa.org/membership or complete a form and make your tax deductible check payable to: Steinbrenner PTSA.
You may drop off your form and payment in the Main Office or mail it to: Steinbrenner High School, 5575 W. Lutz Lake Fern Road, Lutz, FL 33558.

If you have any questions, please email GSHSPTSAmembership@gmail.com.

Make sure to include your student's 2nd period teacher on your form so Membership Cards can be sent home.  If your student does not have a 2nd period teacher, please indicate which teacher you would like cards to be sent to.

**Seniors who are interested in applying for a PTSA scholarship must join the PTSA by December 31 to be eligible for consid eration.**
