As we enter Elul, the month before our High Holy Days, we enter a period of self-reflection preparing us for our Days of Awe, looking at the year that passed and beginning to think about the year to come.

As you look back at the past year, how have you taken a step forward? What have you learned? How have you grown? What have you started?

We are asking you, our congregation, to film a short video sharing a step forward that you’ve taken over the past year. We will use all or a portion of the video during our High Holy Day services.

Please send us the video describing, in 15 words or less, a step forward that you’ve taken this year. At the end of the video, physically take a step forward. You can see an example of what we're looking for here.  

The video can be filmed on your phone holding it vertically or horizontally (in either portrait or landscape mode). Make sure your whole body is in the video so we can see you taking your physical step forward. You can record your video individually or in a group with others. Make sure there’s no background noise and check your video before sending to make sure you can be heard clearly.

Again, you can check an example, here. Please adjust your video settings to 1080p at 30 fps. You can find the video settings under Camera. When you've completed your video, please email it to stepforward@zedek.org. We request that all videos be sent to us no later than Friday, September 1.
