Future-Focused Leadership: Amy Carrier and Parma Metal Center’s $250M Investment Paving the Way Forward
Amy Carrier leads General Motors’ Parma Metal Center as Plant Director, a role she assumed on May 1, 2023. As the first female plant director in the facility’s 75-year history, Amy oversees a workforce of nearly one thousand salaried and UAW-represented employees operating three shifts to produce vehicle stampings and metal assemblies for GM’s U.S. assembly plants. Her leadership is marked by a focus on lean manufacturing principles, safety, quality, and cost efficiency.
Amy brings nearly 30 years of manufacturing experience at General Motors, with a diverse background spanning roles in Body Shop, Paint Shop, General Assembly, Lean Manufacturing, and Global Supply Chain. She began her GM career in 1997 at the Lordstown Assembly plant and has progressively taken on greater leadership responsibilities, including positions as stamping shift leader, engineering director, and assistant plant manager at Parma.
Known for her results-oriented and personable approach, Amy is committed to nurturing talent within GM, mentoring young engineers and leaders, and fostering an inclusive workplace culture. She is active in GM employee resource groups and community initiatives, such as Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, and serves on the Parma Area Chamber of Commerce board.
Under Amy’s direction, Parma Metal Center stands as a pillar of American manufacturing excellence, producing over 100 million parts annually and processing more than 400 tons of steel daily for GM’s North American-built vehicles. In 2025, the plant received a significant boost with GM’s $250 million investment, reinforcing the company’s commitment to advanced manufacturing, workforce development, and supply chain resiliency. This investment supports sheet metal stampings and assemblies for major product allocations at GM’s assembly plants across the country, contributing to the company’s total manufacturing investments of over $5.5 billion for 2025.
Amy Carrier’s leadership and GM’s substantial new investment ensure Parma Metal Center remains competitive, flexible, and prepared to meet evolving customer demands across both ICE and EV portfolios, while continuing to invest in its people and the future of American manufacturing.
