As summer begins to wind down and the first signs of fall creep into the air, we’re reminded of the seasons God has built into both nature and our lives. Just as the leaves will soon change and give way to something new, so too does God invite us into transformation. Scripture reminds us in Ecclesiastes 3:1: “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”
For many of us, the change of seasons is not just about weather—it’s about God’s continual work of renewal in our hearts.
| | GRADUATE SPOTLIGHT -- James Isham | | |
We are especially grateful to celebrate the renewal happening in the life of James Isham, who has recently graduated from our recovery program. James has chosen to walk in the light, committing himself to a sober life, rooted in faith. His perseverance and openness to God’s healing power stand as a testimony to what the Lord can do when we surrender our struggles to Him.
We give thanks for James’ courage, his growth, and his decision to pursue a new season of life—one filled with hope, peace, and the promise of God’s presence.
A luncheon was held in honor of James at the Spider Lake Church Main Street Campus. We’d like to thank Parker, who is also a House of Hope Graduate, for cooking the lunch, along with Harry Howe and the ladies from the church who also contributed to the luncheon. James will resde in the House of Hope’s Phase 3 house until he is able to transition to independent living.

| | BARN DANCE FUNDRAISER at Sylvan Dale Barn | | |
A fundraiser was held on August 23, and 100% of the proceeds benefited Forever Joy and the House of Hope ($9,420 for each).
The Barn Dance is in honor of Cassidy Joy Metropulos who tragically lost her life to illicit fentanyl poisoning. The barn dance is put on each year to raise awareness and funds to support local non-profit organizations dedicated to helping those battling addictions.
We are so grateful to be a recipient of funds raised this year and we thank the Dale Family and the Hayward Community for your support.
| | PHASE 3 HOUSE IMPROVEMENTS | | |
The Phase 3 House is where graduates can stay for a monthly stipend until they work out the details of employment and living independently and to receive support as they make the transition.
The house has undergone some renovations to accommodate more men and to take care of necessary repairs. This summer, items replaced include a bathroom shower, 2-bedroom windows. and a sewer line. In addition, a back porch was removed along with an old garage due to safety concerns. We want to thank Dennis Rasmussen for the bathroom plumbing, Dave Carlson, Carlson Electric, for the electrical work, and Rick Marks, Hayward Home Center, for the carpet and vinyl for the new bathrooms and bedroom.
Next, the porch will be re-built with the help of the Northland Area Builder’s Association members who are donating labor for the project. When we say this is truly a community supported ministry, we really mean it!

Materials needed for this project include:
Concrete $4,100
Lumber Yard $13,732
Gravel for parking $1,000
Light fixtures and window coverings $500
Floor covering $750
Door to house $150
If you or someone you know would like to make a donation to help cover these expenses, please contact Linda Gerich at lkgerich@gmail.com.

We are incredibly blessed by all that God provides including volunteers, donations, skilled labor, wisdom, discernment, the will to change, hope, grace, the ability to transform and the continual work of renewal in our hearts.
