Lady Gloria Ridge Information on Wednesdays

Heather Winn from Givens Affordable Communities will be at Haywood St. on Wednesdays from 10 - 12 to answer questions about the application process for Lady Gloria Ridge Community which will be completed and ready to be leased later this year. We are excited about this partnership with Givens and look forward to getting to know Heather. Please give her a warm welcome when you see her on campus.

Companion Gathering,

Wednesday, August 13th

August 13th is the next Companion Fellowship. We gather the second Wednesday of each month. Join us at White Labs Brewing on Charlotte St. at 3:00 p.m.

Invitation to Support the Dish Room

Are you interested in learning how the Haywood St. dish room is the heartbeat of the Downtown Welcome Table? We could use some support there in August and September keeping the plates clean so that the table can be set for us to break bread together. Come by any Tuesday or Thursday for a tutorial on the different machines.

Pastor Brian and Pastor Seth. Both have spoken about how times in the dishroom are among their favorite Haywood St. memories.

Sermon

Step Out of the Boat

by Pastor Jody

Hearing that his cousin had been murdered by the empire, beheaded at the whim of a young girl,  he was overwhelmed with the need to grieve, to pray, to rest.  Bordering on exhaustion and yet ever aware of the pain surrounding him, Jesus seeks a quiet place to reset to settle down.  He seeks sabbath, but the crowds follow him. Jesus saw the crowds, saw their pain..their fatigue and hunger, and had compassion.  He healed them and when it was late, he fed them - more than 5,000 with five loaves and two fish. He still needed some space.  He still needed rest.
