About The Foxfield Fund

The Foxfield Fund is the local giving arm of the Cassiopeia Foundation, a family-led 501(c)3 philanthropic organization rooted in the legacy of industrialist and racing enthusiast W. Alton Jones. Guided by the leadership of his granddaughter, Diane Miller, the Cassiopeia Foundation has supported strategic conservation and community initiatives around the world.

The Foxfield Fund is rooted in the Miller family's longtime connection to Charlottesville and their stewardship of the historic Foxfield Racetrack, from which the Fund draws its name. The Cassiopeia Foundation purchased the racecourse through the Foxfield Fund in 2024.

Guided by the family's generations-long history in the community, the Foxfield Fund is dedicated to supporting initiatives that improve the lives of Virginians. The Miller family has invested $15 million over the last decade, advancing critical organizations in the greater Charlottesville region, including Albemarle County Public Schools, Charlottesville Free Clinic, Piedmont Family YMCA, and Virginia Food System Council. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foxfield Fund invested $5 million to combat food insecurity, expand mental health services, and support small businesses.
