Cura's Garden, a project by artist Ben Thorp Brown, is a permanent installation in Ghent, Belgium. Inspired by the Roman goddess Cura, it creates a captivating environment for exploration. The installation, situated in a former monastery courtyard, connects our senses, emotions, and the earth. Cura, a recurring figure in Brown's work, explores humanity's relationship with architecture and the environment. Originally exhibited as a moving image work called Cura, the project evolved into ceramic sculptures during the pandemic, reflecting the unresolved crisis and themes of landscape and fatherhood.

Winston-Salem Spotlight: 5 1/2 Yards" The History and Heritage of the Indian Saree
The Winston-Salem Arts Council partnered with the Rotary Club of Winston-Salem to showcase artist Namrata Mitra's exhibition "5 ½ Yards." Mitra's brand, "Namrata Weaves," features carefully curated products reflecting her artistic vision. As a female entrepreneur in India, she worked closely with diverse weavers and artisans, fostering a community and offering customers unique fabric experiences. The exhibition highlights the creative application of Indian artisans' work in various products, supporting social entrepreneurship. The Rotary Club promotes lasting change through service, integrity, and global fellowship. This exhibit closes on June 30, 2023.

Liz will be leading the session at next month's Summit titled "Opportunities for Artists in the Social Change Marketplace." Music to Life is transforming the role of musicians in driving social change. They believe that music's true power lies in the hands of those who create it. By supporting visionary artists dedicated to civil and human rights, climate change, poverty, and health, Music to Life helps them enhance their outreach, community organizing skills, and music-driven programming. They aim to build a network of skilled musician change agents nationwide, fostering community revitalization.

One Day Festival: NMSU Feminist Border Arts Film Festival
The Feminist Border Arts Film Festival is returning to New Mexico State University on June 28, International Pride Day. The festival will showcase 60 short films that explore identity, difference, women's issues, and LGBTQ+ topics. It aims to foster dialogue and representation, amplifying underrepresented voices and providing a platform for thought-provoking narratives. The festival has transitioned to an online format due to the pandemic but continues to curate impactful films and engage audiences in critical discussions.

Call for Submissions: WPAA Call for Papers
The Women's Perspectives in Arts Administration symposium, hosted by the University of Kentucky, aims to celebrate and explore the contributions of women-identifying scholars in the field. The one-day symposium will feature panel discussions, workshops, and interactive plenaries, with an emphasis on participant-driven engagement. Submissions should be within the following streams: professional practice, frameworks of scholarship, collaboration, innovation, and an open stream. If not, they may fall under the symposium theme “The Past, Present, and Future of Scholarship".

Call for Application: Illuminations Grant
The Illuminations Grant for Black Trans Women Visual Artists, supported by Mariette Pathy Allen, recognizes and supports the contributions of Black trans women visual artists. The grant highlights their under-recognized work and provides critical support. Four distinguished finalists will also receive an award. Administered by Queer|Art, the grant includes studio visits and access to creative and professional development resources. Applications are open for self-identified Black trans women and trans femmes working in visual art in the United States.

Grant Amount: $10,000 and $1,250 for four finalist

Call for Submissions: Music Prize at Prize Fest 2023
Prize Fest, which takes place in Shreveport, LA in October, is accepting submissions for Music Prize. You must register your music act of any genre and record a 10-20 minute original work video audition. The top 10 finalists, selected by industry professionals and online audience vote, will attend Music Prize and perform at Prize Fest in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Performance Dates: October 13-14, 2023
