QuaranTune Dulcimer Festival 8.0

QuaranTune 8.0 workshop registration opens today, Sunday, August 28, at 4pm Eastern (3pm Central). I created short preview videos of each of my 8 workshops. I added links so you can quickly register for each workshop. Visit https://stephenseifert.com/qdf8 for all the goodies.

(To be fair to other instructors, the registration links won't appear below the preview videos on my website until about one minute before registration opens. The preview videos are available now.)

Walnut Valley Festival Performances

One of my most favorite music festivals is what a lot of us just call "Winfield". It's famous in our circles for hosting the national mountain dulcimer championship as well as many other contests. The campground is buzzing with thousands of jammers around the clock. It's just a really fantastically good time.

Hammered dulcimer player Mark Alan Wade is one of the hired performers at Winfield this year. He contacted me last week to tell me his guitarist had to cancel and to ask me if I could join in last minute.

The first dulcimer festival I attended was in Coschocton, OH, back in the early 90s. I entered the contest and ended up winning first place. Mark was also there to enter the hammered contest. He got first place as well. For me, it's pretty special to have known him all these years and to now have an opportunity to perform about 8 concerts with him in less than a month.

There's a chance I will be offering a single afternoon dulcimer workshop the Wednesday before the event. It might work out; it might not. I'm waiting for it to be approved. I'll let everyone know as soon as it is.

In the meantime, check out https://www.wvfest.com/. This is the biggest world stage for our instrument. Please consider supporting our musical cause by attending or even entering the mountain dulcimer contest. Hope to see you there!

Black Mountain Music Festival

I'l be teaching and performing, laughing and jamming, at Chuck's upcoming Black Mountain Music Festival. The nature and history of the venue are quite amazing. Visit the website, https://www.blackmountainmusicfest.com/, and consider attending. I LOVE this event, and I think you will, too.

In-Person Mountain Dulcimer A to Z Three-Day Intensive in Texas

I'll be teaching a three-day mountain dulcimer intensive in Kennard, TX, the week after Halloween, Tuesday through Thursday, November 1-3. I don't have all the details together just yet, but if you're interested, please email me using stephen@stephenseifert.com. I'm not asking if you want to do this for sure, I'm just looking for maybes at this point.

This three day precedes the Old Mill Music Festival run by Lloyd and April Wright. This is a fantastic event for jammers of all instruments. His new website is coming together at http://oldmillmusicfestival.com/. I'll be teaching and performing there as well.

(Kentucky Music Week, Heather, Breccan and Chicken, Grand Canyon, Route 66)

Kaufman Kamp with Aaron O'Rourke

Aaron and I will be teaching dulcimer at Steve Kaufman's Kaufman Kamp June 11-17, 2023. We're working with two levels and will be switching students after lunch each day.

There's two reasons to consider this particular event. First, you'll get to see Aaron and me playing together as well as with some of the finest acoustic musicians on the planet. (No, really, go look at the lineup: https://www.flatpik.com/steve-kaufmans-acoustic-kamp-overview) Second, you will get to join some of the best jams on the planet.

I'll write more about this soon. I am so excited I was asked to be part of this. :)

2023 Summer Dulcimer Cruise

I'm doing a dulcimer cruise with Rob Brereton and Thomasina Levy. If you're MAYBE interested, please visit http://www.dulcimeradventures.com/ and join the mailing list. We're just looking for maybes at this point. Rob and Thomasina have a lot of experience running successful events on land and on sea. Let's live it up a little!

(Fremont Street, Grand Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Hoover Dam)

I'm Looking for a Used Vehicle

I'm actually looking for two. I need to find a car for my daughter for college, and I need something that's a little more road-worthy for myself. If you have any leads, please send them my way.

Thank You,

Stephen Seifert
