Healthy Snack Station

Students in the Chinstrap Penguin class learned about the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle during an engaging cooking activity. Students had an informative discussion on the ways different foods affect our body and brain. After running a class poll, students voted to make fruit kabobs as their healthy snack for the day. What a nice treat for students to enjoy!
Celebrating Black History Month

Students in our Royal Penguin class celebrated Black History Month by playing a fun game called “Who Am I,” where they used what they learned in class to guess the names of historical African American figures. Later, students got to teach their fellow classmates about the lives of different African American inventors for their class presentations. It was so great to see our students practice their public speaking skills. They did a great job!
Visions of Success

Students and staff in the Royal Penguin class set goals for the new year with these vision boards! Vision boards are a fun way for students to think about their futures, keep track of the progress they make throughout the year, and be intentional about the choices. We love seeing all of the different goals they have for 2023!
A Sweet Valentine's Day

FLC is super sweet! Students celebrated Valentine’s Day with a creative event hosted by our Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) program, rewarding our students’ positive behavior choices with exciting activities! From photo booths to face painting to cookie decorating, we all had a great time sharing messages of love and appreciation with one another.
Staff of the Quarter

Our staff do an amazing job representing our core values: TWIRL (Teamwork, Work Ethic, Integrity, Respect, Leadership), making our school a safe place for students to grow as individuals and learners. This quarter, we would like to recognize two staff members who have truly shown what it means to TWIRL. Meet our two Staff of the Second Quarter:
Ms. Stevenson works with us as a Behavior Support Staff in our CARE (Child Advocate, Response, and Engagement) role. She is known to work magic with our students and embodies TWIRL wherever she goes. Coming to work with a smile and positive attitude, Ms. Stevenson’s bright personality shines and encourages our students to be excited to learn each day. She is always there to help her students and fellow staff members, often putting others before herself. Congratulations Ms. Stevenson!
Mr. Ignatov is our Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Although relatively new to FLC, he has made a great impression on all of us. In the classroom, you can find him supporting an entire class, even if he was only originally scheduled to work with one student. His outstanding work ethic uplifts our students and proactively builds relationships with them. Mr. Ignatov is ahead of the curb, always planning for the next school day and helping students regulate their behavior. Congratulations Mr. Ignatov!
