Virtual Public Comment Period Open on Sterling Boulevard, Williamsburg Road/Chase Heritage Circle | |
Loudoun County is hosting an online public comment period, March 12 – April 12, 2024, on the Sterling Boulevard and Williamsburg Road/Chase Heritage Circle Intersection Improvements. This project provides for the separation and improved delineation of turning movements at the intersection of Sterling Boulevard, Williamsburg Road and Chase Heritage Circle, as well as improvements to turn lanes operating at and through the intersection.
This intersection is part of the county’s Intersection Improvement Program which addresses traffic safety and operational challenges on roadways within the county. Members of the public are encouraged to watch a recorded presentation and provide input about the project at loudoun.gov/intersectionimprovement.

Sterling District Representation Needed on Loudoun County Advisory Boards and Commissions | |
Please review the information below and the list of vacancies. If you are interested in serving on an advisory board, please complete your online application, then reach out to my office at Tianni.Ivey@loudoun.gov.
Sterling District-specific seats are open on the following boards:
1. Animal Advisory Committee
Purpose: to advise the Board of Supervisors on the effectiveness of the Loudoun County Department of Animal Services; to advise to the Director Animal Services; to promote public awareness of the Department of Animal Services; and to serve as ombudsman for Animal Services issues or concerns.
2. Art Advisory Committee
Purpose: The Art Advisory Committee (AAC) was established by the Board of Supervisors to promote the visual arts in Loudoun County and to collect and display works of art in the Loudoun County Government Center that reflect the community.
3. Library Board of Trustees
Purpose: to secure adequate funds for Loudoun County Public Libraries; to appoint a library director; to determine library policies; to approve expenditures of library funds
- NOTE: The Sterling District seat on the Library Board of Trustee is being temporarily filled by the previous representative until a new representative is appointed. Therefore, the position is not formally listed on the vacancy list, so please still submit an online application and email my office to express your interest.
4. Transit Advisory Board
Purpose: to advise the Board of Supervisors on ways to improve existing Transit Services provided by Loudoun County and on any proposed changes or additions to future transit services.
General Vacancies
While a portion of the advisory boards are comprised of appointees from each electoral district, requiring applicants to live in the district for which the advisory position exists, many advisory boards are comprised of at-large seats. These seats have no residency requirements but may require appointees to have specific areas of expertise and/or representation.

Loudoun County Statement Regarding Data Center "Moratorium" | Loudoun County has received inquiries from residents who are concerned about the number of data centers that have been approved for construction in the county and potential future projects currently in the planning process. The county is publishing this message to ensure interested residents are correctly informed about the county’s role in data center development. | | |

PRCS Community Needs Assessment Survey Closes March 31st | |
PRCS continues to seek input from residents through an online survey as part of the department’s community needs assessment. The survey seeks input to help determine priorities for parks, recreation facilities, program offerings, and special events in the county.
The survey should take approximately 12 to 15 minutes to complete. The survey is confidential and individual responses will not be shared.
The online survey will be open through March 31, 2024.

Registration for Annual McGruff Safety Camp Hosted By LCSO and LC-CFRS Opens Wednesday, March 27th | |
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) and the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System (LC-CFRS) are proud to announce the 36th Annual McGruff Safety Camp for the upcoming summer.
This year the McGruff Safety Camp will be held on three dates:
- June 24 – 27 Countryside Elementary School, Sterling
- July 8 – 11 Evergreen Mill Elementary School, Leesburg
- July 15 – 18 Evergreen Mill Elementary School, Leesburg
The camp continues to offer morning and afternoon sessions. All camps run Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., or 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. A graduation event for all campers will be held on July 19, 2024, at Bolen Park in Leesburg.
Applications for the 36th Annual McGruff Safety Camps will begin on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 8 a.m. The application is available by clicking here.

Loudoun Board to Reconsider Belmont Innovation Data Center | During the March 19, 2024, business meeting, the majority of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors who were present voted to reconsider its previous vote on March 13 to deny a data center application known as the Belmont Innovation Campus (LEGI-2023-0048, Belmont Innovation Campus). As a result, the Board may approve or deny an amended application on the same project. The revived proposal is scheduled to be heard during the Board’s April 10, 2024, public hearing. | | | |

LCSO Torch Run for Special Olympics Virginia - April 17th | |
On April 17, LCSO will be part of Loudoun’s third annual Law Enforcement Torch Run to raise money for Special Olympics Virginia. This year’s Torch Run will be held at Loudoun Valley High School in conjunction with Loudoun’s second Special Olympics Virginia, Little Feet Meet, and all participants will be local first responder personnel and their families, along with Special Olympics athletes.
Little Feet Meet enables students from preschool through high school with developmental/intellectual disabilities to join their general education peers for track and field events and other fun activities. Something to Root for: Building Community Gravel Beds for Tree Cultivation and Education | |
Virginia Cooperative Extension Loudoun (VCE Loudoun) and VCE Loudoun Master Gardeners are partnering with Loudoun County Parks, Recreation & Community Services (PRCS) in two community gravel bed projects to foster healthy tree roots and serve as educational demonstration beds.
In the spring, VCE Loudoun Master Gardener Tree Stewards encourage the public to visit the demonstration gravel beds at Claude Moore and Franklin parks to learn more about the importance of trees and the impact gravel beds can have in helping support ecosystem resiliency.
