In the digital age it is incredibly important to keep an eye on who you are corresponding with! When it comes to the Coast Guard and renewing your Certificate of Documentation it is no different. Here are some tips to keep in mind if you are closing in on your expiration date.
First and foremost, any correspondences you receive be sure they are from .GOV / National Vessel Documentation Center / United States Coast Guard. The Coast Guard will send a renewal notice to your address on file about 30-45 days before expiration. Be sure to keep them updated with the most current information and if you aren’t sure how to do so, give us a call!
Should you receive something in the mail, say 3-4 months ahead of time, you can simply look the other way. Don’t worry, the Coast Guard knows when you are due to renew!
Lastly, if you are unsure we are always at your service with any questions you may have! Here at Sterling Acceptance Corporation we handle US Coast Guard Documentation in-house. Just reach out to Katherine ([email protected]) and she will be more than happy to assist in any way she can.
