Steve Alten March Newsletter

TO: My Readers, Friends… but especially to my MEGheads:
In case you missed the last newsletter – big news!
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
For as long as I have been personally answering reader email (25 years and counting), it seems that both MEGheads and book collectors have been attempting to compile a complete set of mint condition hardbacks of the MEG series – a difficult task made even harder by the small print run of MEG: Generations (only 5,000 first edition hardbacks). And because three different publishing houses (TOR, Kensington & A & M Pub) control the hardback rights, I never saw a way for it to happen… until four months ago when I discovered a loophole in my contracts… the key word being “compete” as in, “forbidden to compete.”
It seems that there is one format never mentioned in any publishing contract I signed: Leather bound Collector’s Editions, and for good reason – booksellers do not carry these expensive editions and a publisher cannot afford to stock and sell them – they are simply too expensive to print and risk returns on.
For A & M, it is perfect! Most important – this gives me one last shot to bring together every MEG – every novel, every MEG novella, the amazing graphic novel, and then place everything in chronological order and treat it as if it were a made-for-TV NETFLIX series. This is my gift to you, something you will have long after I’m gone – my very best to my best and most deserving fans.

Great White Nurseries share California shallows
|
|
Great white shark numbers are increasing off the coast of Southern California's beaches.
They are frequently spotted near surfers and swimmers, but there hasn't been an increase in attacks.
Researchers say the sharks may be returning as a result of successful conservation efforts.

Living Tips:
6 Impressive Health Benefits of Spinach
|
|
As far as leafy greens go, you really can’t go wrong with spinach. For starters, it boasts a mild earthy flavor, which is ideal if you don’t enjoy the bitterness of kale or blandness of iceberg lettuce. It’s also incredibly easy to add both fresh and frozen spinach to recipes, whether you’re blending up a nutrient-packed smoothie or simmering a hearty stew.

SEA MONSTER COVE March – April happenings:
|
|
On our March 5 zoom call, we had an exciting update from our computer game wizard, Paul Knott who now is pushing for a delivery as early as this week. “I’m handling the last bugs, but it is impossible to get them all until members start playing. They can email at any time to report problems or suggestions to make the game even better.
Here is the short video Paul sent last week – this is going to be amazing!

Recipe Of The Month:
Healthy Granola Bars
|
|
Ingredients:
2 cups rolled oats
¾ cup packed brown sugar
½ cup wheat germ
¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup all-purpose flour
¾ cup raisins (Optional)
¾ teaspoon salt
½ cup honey
1 egg beaten
½ cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions;
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Generously grease a 9x13 inch baking pan. In a large bowl, mix together the oats, brown sugar, wheat germ, cinnamon, flour, raisins and salt. Make a well in the center, and pour in the honey, egg, oil and vanilla. Mix well using your hands. Pat the mixture evenly into the prepared pan. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven, until the bars begin to turn golden at the edges. Cool for 5 minutes, then cut into bars while still warm. Do not allow the bars to cool completely before cutting, or they will be too hard to cut.
