Dear Friend,

Sometimes you just know

As a rich sound hits your ears and gorgeous phrasing wraps winds its way around your heart, you know you are listening to someone really special.

That’s how I felt when I heard violinist Randall Goosby play for the first time, two years ago at the 2018 Sphinx Competition finals concert. Most of the people in the room agreed with me, as Randall was the hands-down favorite for the Sphinx audience prize. And while a majority of the judges voted to give the top prize to someone else, it was clear to me that this was the artist I wanted to hear again in Detroit!
It took a little time, but Randall Goosby is coming back this year.

On Friday, February 28 at Wayne State’s Schaver Recital Hall in Midtown, and on Saturday, February 29 at Northbrook Presbyterian Church in Beverly Hills, Randall Goosby will make his Metro Detroit solo recital debut at the Chamber Music Society of Detroit, joined by pianist Zhu Wang in a beautiful program of music by Tomaso Antonio Vitali, Claude Debussy, William Grant Still, and Richard Strauss.

Trust me on this one:

This is not a concert you want to miss!
But you don't have to take my word for it, take a listen for yourself.

Just CLICK HERE , then press the purple button that says “AUDIO” under the pictures, and then press the little arrow-shaped start button to play the music.

You won't believe your ears.
If you're like me, you simply love great violin playing, and for me, Randall Goosby’s sound is perfect .

Maybe it’s all the years he spent in Itzhak Perlman’s violin class at Juilliard, filling his ears with that great master’s exquisite tone. Maybe it’s the Guarneri del Jesu violin he plays, on loan from the Stradivari Society.  Maybe it’s the decade of accumulated musical wisdom since he first played on a Young People’s Concert at the New York Philharmonic, a track record that also includes the Cleveland Orchestra and about a dozen other smaller orchestras across the country.  Or maybe it's just plain genius.

Whatever it is, at just 23 years old, Randall Goosby from Memphis, Tennessee is a fully seasoned artist, already embarking on an impressive career as a soloist, chamber musician, and artistic leader for his generation.
