Legislative Council on River Governance to Convene June 26-29 in Montana
CSG West is pleased to announce that this year’s Legislative Council on River Governance (LCRG) will convene June 26-29 in Whitefish, Montana. Established in 1998, LCRG is a cooperative, bipartisan program comprised of state legislators from Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington. Through collaborative efforts, members can exchange information and identify solutions to address the challenges and opportunities along the Columbia and Snake River basins. Join Us August 1-4 for the “Meeting with the Stars”
Each year CSG West brings together legislators to share experiences and ideas related to policy issues facing the West. Through engaging conversations, relationships are forged and fostered allowing us to collectively strengthen our region, as well as our respective states.

CSG West Chair, California Assemblymember Mike Gipson, and the California Host Committee, are thrilled to invite you to the “Meeting with the Stars” – the 2023 CSG West Annual Meeting – that will convene August 1-4 in Universal City, CA. The Annual Meeting is the largest gathering of western legislators, bringing together over 500 participants. Join fellow lawmakers and other stakeholders to engage in policy committee discussions, learn from topic experts, and connect with regional, national, and international colleagues.

Looking Back at Five Years of a Federal Program Supporting County Justice Systems
The Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Program (JMHCP) supports communities across the country in their work to address overrepresentation of people with behavioral health needs in the criminal justice system. Between 2015 and 2019, the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs’ Bureau of Justice Assistance funded a JMHCP grant geared toward supporting county justice systems respond to people with serious mental illnesses (SMI) and co-occurring substance use disorders.
Task Force Convenes to Learn, Improve Mental Health Policy
Policymakers and industry professionals gathered in Chicago April 29-30 to discuss the future of mental health policy with the State Exchange on Employment and Disability (SEED). The National Task Force on Workforce Mental Health Policy reviewed presentations and expert panels, and participated in breakout sessions discussing behavioral health coverage, individual placement and support programs, and workplace care and support.
