Prospect Mountain 2026-27 Season Passes are ON SALE NOW with our Early Bird November DISCOUNT

It's Stick Season here on

Prospect Mountain

Mornings are frosty, the leaves are gone, and we've had our first snowflakes. The generator arrives early this month, so we can start snowmaking when conditions allow. We are getting ready for our winter season to begin. Keep an eye on our website and social media this coming month for our opening announcement - fingers crossed.

Whether you’ve skied here for decades or are just getting to know Prospect, we’re glad you’re here. This monthly newsletter shares what’s happening on the mountain, introduces the people who make it possible, and invites you to take part and be a part of our Prospect community.

More Than a Mountain, We're a Community. We’re Getting Together on November 8th

Join us in the lodge for a Community Welcome Dinner on Sunday, November 8th, starting at 5pm with BYOB social hour, followed by dinner at 6pm. It’s a chance to celebrate the coming season, reconnect with friends, and meet more of the people who make Prospect what it is.

There are 60 places available. To reserve yours by Nov 3rd, email Dave Newell at info@prospectmountain.com.

Help Introduce the Next Generation to Cross-Country Skiing

Bill Koch League Gear Lease Day is Sunday afternoon, November 8.

On Tuesday and Thursday afternoons throughout ski season, Prospect Mountain comes alive with young skiers. The lodge fills with kids as they collect their gear and grab a favorite cookie. Out on the trails, fifth and sixth-graders zip along while the youngest Lollipoppers discover the pleasure of gliding on snow.

Last winter, 90 children from Pre-K through sixth grade participated in Prospect's Bill Koch League (BKL). It's a wonderful way to introduce children to cross-country skiing, build friendships, and nurture a lifelong love of winter outdoors.

We're getting ready for the 2026–27 season:

BKL Gear Day (afternoon) is Sunday, Nov 8th.

Our annual Gear Lease Day is Sunday afternoon, November 8. Families interested in joining the program should email prospectmtbkl@gmail.com to sign up. Advance registration is required; we can't accommodate walk-ins.

We want every interested child to have the opportunity to participate, so we offer financial assistance for program fees and equipment leases.

Help make it happen.

Our BKL program runs entirely on volunteers. As participation grows, so does our need for coaches and adult helpers. If you can spare an afternoon on Tuesdays or Thursdays, from 3:30 to 5 p.m., we'd love to have you join us.

Whether you're introducing a child to skiing or helping another child discover it, you're contributing to something that makes Prospect Mountain special.

Help shape Prospect Mountain's growing adult ski program.

The Prospect Masters program is gearing up for another season. It is building something exciting: a community of adult Nordic skiers who want to improve their skills, stay active, enjoy the mountain, and ski together.

Inspired in part by the successful programs at Craftsbury, Mansfield Nordic, Ford Sayre, and others, the club is exploring group skis, coaching, technique clinics, fitness training, and social activities for adults with a wide range of abilities and interests. You don't have to be a racer to participate. You just have to enjoy skiing - or want to learn.

We're building on last year's energy and would love to hear what members want to see from the program this year.

If you haven't already, please take a moment to fill out our program survey here: https://timvanorden.com/PMSC_Masters/survey.html.

If you've already filled out the first survey, please take our follow-up survey to help us better tune what we will be offering at the start of the program: https://timvanorden.com/PMSC_Masters/followup.html.

A Great Turnout for Prospect's

Fall Volunteer Work Day

If participation in our annual Fall Volunteer Work Day is any indication, we're in for a great ski season.

On Saturday, October 24, a record 46+ volunteers arrived at the lodge bright and early, ready to pitch in. Together, they moved and stacked many, many cords of firewood, cleared fallen branches and debris from the trails, washed windows, and tackled the many chores that help get Prospect ready for winter.

The work got done, the mountain looks great, and best of all, it felt so good to be together again.

Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make it happen.

Mark your Calendars for our Winter 2027 Moonlight Ski and Dinner Dates:

Save these dates for Prospect’s Moonlight Ski and Dinners: January 23, February 20, and March 20, 2027. Season pass holders will have early access to sign up for the January dinner. We’ll share more details as each date approaches.

Philanthropy builds Prospect’s future

Season passes, day visits, lessons, and events help sustain Prospect’s day-to-day work. Donations serve a different purpose. They allow Prospect to think beyond this season.

Donations strengthen our resilience. They help us prepare for changing winters, improve trails and facilities, protect the land entrusted to our care, and create opportunities that would otherwise remain beyond our reach.

If you’d like to help with that work, make a donation to Prospect Mountain. Thank you for believing in this place.
