Executive Order 107—Currently Seeking Guidance
Per Governor Murphy’s Executive Order 107 this past weekend, all non-essential workers are required to stay home in order to limit the spread of COVID-19.

We know there is confusion among our members about whether we are essential versus non-essential. This is what we do know: we are not retail and therefore are able to be open and perform certain real estate-related duties. What we don't know is exactly what our limitations are with regards to client interactions.

We have, as we have been all throughout this pandemic, been in constant contact with the governor’s office with regards to clarification on what real estate practices are allowable during the time period the Executive Order is in effect.   As soon as we know, you'll know.

We are not the only industry awaiting guidance. Many other businesses are in the exact situation we are and we know the Governor's office is working to clarify the order as it relates to many different segments of the economy.

With regards to certificate of occupancy and fire inspections at the municipal level, we understand there have been instances of municipalities not issuing these. If you know of any instances, please let us or your local board know and we will be happy to look into it. The same goes for title and deed searches on the county level.

We will be in touch as soon as we have received guidance for the industry. Thank you for your patience and we hope you are all staying safe and healthy during this time.
