Volume 5 No. 46 | December 8, 2023

Those who've been reading Arts Blast over the years know that this is the time I begin reminding readers not to dillydally when they find a don't-miss event on our calendar. SOLD OUT are words presenting organizations love to see but at the same time they can bring major disappointment for those who had planned to buy tickets. Don't be that guy. Read this from Aaron Collins, Space Coast Symphony Orchestra:

Our 16th Annual Messiah Sing Along with the Indialantic Chamber Singers is officially SOLD OUT and tickets are no longer available.

*YOU MAY SHOW UP AT THE DOOR AND WAIT UNTIL ALL RESERVATIONS ARE SEATED TO SEE IF OPEN SEATS ARE AVAILABLE.

Advertise your holiday season events and gifts in Arts Blast and Arts Blast on the Air with our HOLIDAY SPECIAL PACKAGE! Email for information.

If you're responsible for promoting an arts-related event, send in details using the format at the end of this email. There's no charge for basic calendar listings but your advertising flyer that includes a link to your website will do more to catch readers' attention. Tinsel and Tidings at Vero Beach Theatre Guild with Dee Homsher

Celebrate the season with Tinsel and Tidings at the Vero Beach Theatre Guild. Immerse yourself in the holiday magic with captivating performances featuring your favorites and special performances from dynamic community groups. No two shows will be alike!

Tinsel and Tidings is directed by Dee Homsher, a name frequently seen in the performers, directors, board, and instructors credits at Vero Beach Theatre Guild. Homsher said the idea for the show started as fundraising variety show. "This is not one of the usual season shows, although people auditioned just the way they would for a regular season show.

"It's been challenging pulling community groups together at this time of year when performing arts groups are all entertaining for the holidays, holding their own winter festivals, (participating in) parades," Homsher said. She credits three of her fellow "Guilders" with reaching out to groups and helping to get it organized by the end of October. Will there be sing-a-longs? "YES!!!"

The music offered by the performers listed on the schedule includes songs from Polar Express, standards like White Christmas and Santa Baby, the popular Parody of 12 Days of Christmas, and more, Homsher said. Performers who've been seen in other VBTG shows are:

Megan Callahan- Wednesday in ADDAMS FAMILY

Corrine Harris- Iago in ALLADDIN

Backstage Access is Back at Riverside Theatre

The popular Backstage Access classes return for the 2023-2024 season. These series of adult courses take a closer look at the professional productions being presented at the Theatre and this season, classes have been added on the intricacies of producing theater from a business aspect.

Kevin Quillinan, Director of Theatre Education, will lead the classes that are production oriented and Jon R. Moses, Managing Director/COO, will lead the classes that focus on the business aspects of Riverside’s productions.

“Along with all the great programming we have for young people, we wanted to continue our educational opportunities for adults,” says Allen D. Cornell, Producing Artistic Director of Riverside Theatre. “We explore theatre as an art form by examining specific plays on Riverside’s calendar, studying the show’s history, and learning about our production through visits with guest artists. This year, we’ve added a more comprehensive look at business aspects of producing theater.”

Backstage Access classes are part lecture, part seminar, part participation, part discussion, and seek to build a greater awareness of the many facets and collaborations involved in mounting a show.

The December class is all about Jersey Boys:

Jersey Boys – This class will focus on the impact Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons had on the radio and the music industry.

Course Dates: Meets Thursdays 10am to 12noon (December 21, 28 & January 4)

Tuition for each two or three-week class is $75. Class sizes are limited. Patron Producers and Upper Level donors are entitled to some free tickets for the classes. Call the Box Office for details. To purchase, call 772-231-6990 or go online at www.riversidetheatre.com.

They take him on a tour of his past, present, and future in order to change the man he is into the man he must become.
