Hope on the Horizon for Caregivers: Proposed Tax Relief Bill Could Make a Difference
Caregiving is a labor of love, but it often comes with significant financial challenges. Did you know caregivers spend an average of $7,200 out of pocket each year? A new bill, the Credit for Caring Act, offers a glimmer of hope for caregivers by proposing much-needed tax relief. Click here for the FACT SHEET.
Every American either is a caregiver, knows a caregiver, or will receive the help of a caregiver in their lifetime. The Credit for Caring Act will provide much-needed relief for these families, a priority echoed by President-elect Trump on the campaign trail. We are optimistic that this bipartisan, bicameral support will move forward in the coming year.
At Still Waters, we know how difficult caregiving can be, and we are excited about the potential impact this bill could have on families everywhere. It’s a step toward recognizing the invaluable contributions of caregivers and providing them with the support they deserve.
We’ll keep you updated as we learn more. Here’s to building a brighter future for caregivers and those they care for. ❤️

Yoga and Peace: Meditate and Create Workshop
Caregiving is one of the most selfless acts of love, but it often comes with immense stress and emotional strain. At Still Waters, we understand the challenges caregivers face and the importance of prioritizing their own well-being. That’s why we’re thrilled to partner with Creative Nature to host Meditate & Create, a workshop designed to help caregivers and community members find peace, creativity, and rejuvenation.
Join us on Saturday, February 8th, at 5:00 PM for an evening of mindfulness and artistic expression led by Stephanie Schroeder of Creative Nature. This 2.5-hour workshop will guide participants through a relaxing meditation session and offer space to tap into their creativity, crafting something meaningful in a supportive environment. You don’t need prior experience with meditation or creating—just bring an open mind and a willingness to explore.
Engaging in activities like meditation and creating art is a powerful way for caregivers to reduce stress, find clarity, and foster emotional healing. This workshop offers an opportunity to reconnect with yourself, recharge your spirit, and leave feeling refreshed and inspired. Participants will also enjoy the chance to build community with others who understand the caregiving journey.
The Meditate & Create workshop is open to all and costs $40.00. It will take place at Still Waters Adult Day Center and promises to be an evening of reflection, connection, and renewal. Spaces are limited, so be sure to reserve your spot today.
Take this opportunity to pause, nurture yourself, and reclaim your peace—you deserve it. We hope to see you there!

Celebrating Valentine’s Day with Love and Compassion
At Still Waters, we eagerly anticipate Valentine's Day to celebrate love, connection, and kindness. We understand that Valentine's Day can look different for families at our center and others caring for loved ones with dementia. This special Day offers a beautiful opportunity to reflect on the love and compassion that sustain us in our caregiving journeys.
This year, our guests embraced the spirit of Valentine's Day by creating heartfelt cards to spread joy to others. They enjoyed designing and crafting Valentine's cards for seniors in nursing homes, reminding us of the power of simple acts of kindness. In addition, we extended our love across state lines by sending Valentine's cards to our friends in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, continuing to build meaningful connections beyond our community.
Valentine's Day reminds us that love comes in many forms—through a shared smile, kind words, or thoughtful cards. For families caring for loved ones with dementia, it's a day to cherish the moments of connection and honor the love guiding their care.
As we celebrate this special day at the center, we are reminded that love is a universal language capable of bridging gaps and brightening lives. All of us at Still Waters wish you a Happy Valentine's Day filled with love, compassion, and cherished memories.

Honoring the Past, Celebrating the Present: Black History Month at Still Waters
We are proud to celebrate Black History Month at Still Waters this February. Our center is a vibrant and diverse community, and the conversations and stories shared here are a testament to the richness of our collective history.
Many of our guests have lived through remarkable eras and pivotal moments in history, and the stories they can tell offer invaluable lessons and inspiration. This month, we'll honor their experiences and the broader legacy of Black history by engaging in meaningful activities that reflect on these stories and the contributions of Black individuals throughout history.
Through interactive discussions, art projects, and storytelling sessions, we'll explore the Black community's resilience, achievements, and cultural richness. Our goal is to create a space where everyone can share, learn, and celebrate the impact of Black history on our lives today.
At Still Waters, we believe that honoring diversity strengthens our community and deepens our understanding of one another. Join us this month as we celebrate, reflect, and engage in activities highlighting Black history's importance and its enduring legacy.
Let’s honor the past, celebrate the present, and inspire the future together.
