NEWS

There's still time to order from World of Gifts guide!

Alongside Hope’s World of Gifts is full of thoughtful ways to honour someone you care about and bring hope to others at the same time.

Alongside Hope is grateful to a generous donor who matched all gifts — up to $100,000! We are excited to share that we have met the match! Thank you to everyone who has supported the World of Gifts campaign so far. The impact doesn’t stop there — you can still give a meaningful gift this Christmas and make a world of difference with the World of Gifts.

Read the latest news

  • Christmas bazaars connect Anglican churches to wider acts of hope in the community, writes Will Postma, Executive Director of Alongside Hope, in his Advent message.
  • A recent visit to the Holy Land revealed how hope persists during conflict, with partners like Al-Ahli Hospital continuing critical work under hardship.
  • Hurricane Melissa was the strongest to ever hit Jamaica. You can help the Diocese of Jamaica and Cayman Islands in its two-year recovery plan.
  • A young Tzeltal leader in Chiapas is helping build a sustainable future through coffee farming.

Add your voice to increase refugee cap

Sponsorship Agreement Holders (SAHs) have the funds, housing and settlement supports ready to welcome refugees from around the world, many with family already in Canada. Yet the federal government is cutting privately sponsored refugee spaces.

For 2026, SAHs’ ability to sponsor refugees has been reduced by 54%, meaning all 143 SAHs combined can submit applications for only 5,000 refugees, despite having capacity to welcome far more. This cut threatens current refugees and the future of the program itself.

The organization representing SAHs – which includes Alongside Hope’s Refugee Network – is asking the Minister of Immigration to double the 2026 Global Cap to 10,000 refugees to help protect the program.

How to add your voice:

  1. Click this link
  2. Enter your name and address and click “Start Writing”
  3. Edit the letter or send it as is
  4. Click “Send”

If enough people speak up, the Minister may increase the number.

Introducing our Lent Resource, Wild Paths of Peace

Wild Paths of Peace, written by Martha Jarvis, explores the unexpected hope of peacemaking at time of conflict in the world and in our personal lives. As the Anglican Communion’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations. Jarvis works to create partnerships between churches and UN teams as they respond to conflict, climate change and forced movement of people. Jarvis has also facilitated church-led peacemaking in South Sudan and Mozambique. Throughout it all, she’s seen nothing that compares to the power of people coming back together after conflict, and ultimately, coming back to faith through Jesus.
