A Note from Mrs. Asaro, Celebrating Veterans Day at Stillmeadow

On Thursday we celebrated our first whole school assembly in honor of Veterans Day.
Mr. Demetrios Frazis, and I coordinated the day's events in the spirit of sharing our honor and gratitude to the Veterans who have served our country, and in so doing, ensured the freedoms that we enjoy every day living in United States of America. Mr. Frazis invited Veterans who reside in Stamford, and surrounding cities in Connecticut, who because of their military service came together, forming long time friendships.

Our assembly began with the pledge and the Star Spangled Banner sung by our fifth grade students accompanied by Mr. Bodofsky on keyboard, and Mr. Farfone on the trumpet. Each grade level showed gratitude with words and letters of thanks, poems, songs and service projects. We then hosted the Veterans with a small continental breakfast reception in the media center. Doughnut Delight donated the coffee to share their gratitude as well. Thank you to the PFO for the croissants and treats. Finally, I would like to thank all of the teachers who supported this event by preparing their students to present, Mrs. Nathanson for the video presentation, Ms. Dugan for the welcome banner and the beautiful wall of honor, suggested by Mrs. Sikorski and Ms. Evarts, where we remembered family members and heroes in history, remembered by our students.
Thank you to the Veterans who came to be honored.
