Mountain Credit Union expects to receive the first batch of Stimulus Checks on April 15, 2020. Here is some important information for your review.
What You Need to Know About Stimulus Checks

  • Stimulus checks come from the IRS, and they are your BEST resource for information about payments.
  • The Credit Union does not get notified when stimulus checks are direct deposited or mailed. For the most up-to-date information on stimulus checks, visit the Economic Impact Payment Information Center at www.irs.gov.
  • For most taxpayers, stimulus check payments are automatic, and you do not have to sign-up to receive a payment. Stimulus check payments are based on your most recent tax returns. If your 2019 taxes have not been filed yet, the IRS will use your 2018 tax information. If you used direct deposit when you filed your taxes, your stimulus check will be deposited into the account specified.
  • No one will contact you—from the Credit Union or the IRS—to confirm bank information or your personal information.
If you did not file a tax return or use direct deposit when you last filed your taxes, the Treasury Department has developed a web-based portal where you can provide your banking information. You will need the following information:

Mountain CU Routing Number:
253174576

Your Account Number: You can locate your account number in the second block of numbers in the MICR line of your checks. If you need assistance please contact your Mountain Credit Union Member Service Representative.

  • Prioritize. Focus on the bills that keep a roof over your head, the lights on and food on the table. Check with your local provider as many utilities and communications companies are working with consumers to waive fees, keep the power on and your internet connection working.
  • Talk with your credit union. Mountain Credit Union is offering low interest, small dollar loans, skip-a-pay, loan modifications and other sources of help so you can use your payment for what you need now.
  • Save Some of It. If you set aside even $100-200, that can provide a cushion for bills that are coming in a couple of weeks.
  • Don’t Hoard Cash. Keep it in your credit union. It’s safest there.
  • Protect. There are lots of bad guys out there trying to use this crisis to get at your stimulus check and your money. Watch out for suspicious emails, texts or phone calls.
  • Pay Your Taxes. The deadline for filing and paying income taxes has been extended to July 15. If you haven’t saved to pay your income taxes, you may want to consider using the economic impact payment to pay your taxes.

Remember to limit your cash withdrawals of your stimulus funds. Your cash is secure in your credit union account and can be saved for current and upcoming expenses. Use your Mountain Credit Union Mastercard Debit Card to access your funds when you need them.
