May   News

What happened to the month of April? It seemed to come and go in the blink of an eye and here we are in May! We've been busy working in the garden trying to beat the arrival of summer heat here in Florida! I cleared both my sewing room and study of lots of quilting, sewing, and embroidery books, fabrics, and notions. I am happy to report there is still plenty left to keep me busy for years to come! This month there will be a SALE of the overflow  items for other needle artists to enjoy. There is one new class for the summer quarter, so be sure to sign up soon!

Here's a look at what will be happening in May.
Sewing Room Overflow Sale

Now that books, patterns, notions (lights, rulers, etc.) and fabrics (yardage, fat quarter bundles, jelly rolls) have been organized, there is an overwhelming overflow of new and used items I would like to share with other needle artists.

On Friday and Saturday, May 17 and 18, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., you are invited to come and see if there is something in this collection that inspires you or you may need for your sewing room. If you are interested, email me and I will forward you the address.

Everything is priced to go! The proceeds will benefit the Jacksonville Humane Society. Hope to see you then!
On the Design Wall

The design wall is up and covered with inspiration! These pyramid blocks have been ready and waiting for the embellished center and supporting cast that will highlight the corners.

For Your Library

It was a delight to tackle my stitching library last month, reviewing, purging and making room for new treasures. I visited with favorite authors and books that are beloved friends, all sources of inspiration.

Although not a technique book, one of my favorite books for inspiration is The Country Diary of An Edwardian Lady by Edith Holden.

Her book is a 1906 diary of the changing seasons in her surrounding countryside. It is filled with Edith's handwritten notes and beautiful paintings on every page of birds, butterflies, bees and flowers.

Edith never intended her diary to be published. In fact, it had lain undiscovered until found on the shelves of an English country house. It was only published in 1977. This book captures all the freshness, charm, and beauty of her original handwritten and illustrated diary. Enjoy!

Stitching Companions

Sammy thinks it's tough work being a stitching companion.

He has to keep an eye on mom, test each quilt for comfort and coziness, all the while trying to get in the required daily kitty naps!
In Closing

The April showers have our honeysuckle in full bloom and the fragrance heavenly! Butterflies and dragon flies are making daily visits to the garden.

Wishing you beautiful spring gardens, both of the nature kind and stitching kind!

Until June,
Stay stitching,
