March   News

As this newsletter wings its way to you, I am in Williamsburg, VA at the Academy of Applique! I am happily stitching with other appliquérs and needle art enthusiasts, together sharing the joy of handwork. Next month I will write more about this wonderful event, but for now here is what is happening back in the studio.

New Pattern

Remember last month's design wall? There were five needle books in various stages of completion on the wall, all awaiting finishing touches.

This month I'm happy to report six needle books are finished, and the pattern, Lil' Needle Books, is now available!

An upcoming class is scheduled for this project on the next quarter calendar at Cinnamon's Quilt Shoppe . I will let you know via Facebook and Instagram  when the class is posted on their website and registration is open.

I hope you enjoy this new treasured heirloom for your sewing basket!
On the Design Wall

What else can I do with the Fan Favorite template? Could flowers be a possibility? Can I use mini charm packs? They are only 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" and the template is 3" tall. Could it work?

It worked! Now how do I set them? I have an idea, and if it works two mini charm packs, plus a background and a border fabric will bring it all together.

You never know when an idea will turn into a successful project. Here's hoping these little flowers bloom into something beautiful I can share with you soon!

For Your Library

Over the last couple of months, I have rediscovered my interest in crochet. It is a relaxing evening endeavor, and a time to ponder new appliqué and embroidery designs and projects.  How about you? Do you like to crochet or knit?

As you may know, I like taking things beyond the basics. So my new crochet interest is learning freeform crochet.

This is a book I recently purchased, Mandalas to Crochet, by Haafner Linssen. This book is well written and illustrated, with some intriguing designs. There are 30 patterns and seven inspirational projects, and one pattern in particular I can see translating into a flower on an embellished appliqué quilt!

Maybe a crocheted motif will appear on an upcoming design wall post! Stay tuned!

Stitching Companions

Thank goodness we won't be needing these anytime soon! Mom found a good deal at a year-end sweater sale and she asked us to model.

Well, we'll be ready for next winter!

Sophia and I (Doogan) are both very happy we're Florida pups!
In Closing

Wishing you a beautiful March filled with four-leaf clovers!

Until next April,
Stay stitching,
