March    News

We are in Williamsburg, VA teaching at the 2020 Academy of Applique! Can we really be having this much fun?!? S ee what we're up to by checking our Instagram and Facebook accounts.

On the home front, new patterns, new designs, new classes, new stitches...there is a lot coming up! Here's what's happening.
On the Design Wall

Back in the sewing room, I left a new design on the wall, something totally different yet the same from my usual work.

The designs are  illustrated, fabric and threads to play with are on the wall. I'm excited and looking forward to starting this project when I arrive home!

There are new stitches and techniques on this project. A new class? A new pattern?

Stay tuned!
New Patterns !

We have three new patterns to offer this month!  They are making their debut at the Academy of Applique, but you too can purchase them now.

First up, the patterns for both the Floral Urn 2.0 and Grape Wreath & Chalice 2.0 are available for purchase from Cinnamon's Quilt Shoppe.

Each pattern includes some new stitches and techniques not found in my previous books and patterns.

Both of these blocks are being taught this week at the Academy of Applique and seemed to be a big success. We're so pleased to be able to offer them to you too.

We're very excited to offer a third new pattern, Pinwheels In My Garden. It too is now available from Cinnamon's Quilt Shoppe.

It was designed by Sandy Amador Dusek, the middle sister of we three Dusek girls. Mom certainly passed on creativity and the stitching gene to all three of her girls!

This pattern features a pieced pinwheel center surrounded by a  gorgeous appliqué design with options for touches of embroidery.

I love Sandy's new design and pattern, and I think you will too. It is definitely on my To Do List! Maybe a new class at Cinnamon's? What do you think?

In The Classroom

Coming in May! NEW Posey Packets Club
2nd Saturday of each month, May through October, 2020, 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Cinnamon's  Quilt Shoppe

I'm thrilled about this upcoming Club and class! Here's a sneak peek at the center of the quilt and the 72 Posey Packets we will be stitching. Each one is fun and addicting!

These little blocks can be hand appliquéd or wool appliquéd. Make all 72 or pick your favorites for a smaller quilt. Make a pincushion, little treasured gifts or cards, doll quilts, the possibilities are endless!

Stay tuned for upcoming details about this new club to be hosted by Cinnamon's Quilt Shoppe !

NEW! Embroidery Sampler Book - Take 2
2nd Saturday of each month, February  through July 2020, 10:30 am - 12:30pm
Cinnamon's  Quilt Shoppe

If you missed the first Embroidery Sampler Book, here's an opportunity to join in the fun. We will make another book with even more hand embroidery stitches, this time focusing on border stitches and how we can use them in our projects.

Join us as we play with needle and threads!

Stitches & Techniques

Each month this section will highlight a new-to-me stitch or technique. I will share a pdf of the technique or a video link so you too may learn along with me.

Stitch a sample of the technique, maybe with different threads and ribbons, on a 7" x 7" piece of fabric. C ollect your stitched sample pages and at the end of the year we will make them into a Sampler Roll that will grow as you continue to learn and add new stitch and technique samples.

This month's stitch is one we are learning at the Academy of Appliqué this week. It can also be found in the New Floral Urn pattern. It is the Fly Stitch Variation. I learned this stitch last year while designing the Floral Urn sample. I love the texture it lends to stems and branches. I hope you like it too!

Stitching Companions

I'm not sure what was happening here. I've never seen Sophia's ears in this position before. They are silky soft and floppy and do not stand up on their own.

The little princess, Sophia, is always on constant alert and vigil, even when she's sleeping!

In Closing

The first day of Spring is March 19! Tweeting you wishes for gardens full of sunshine, singing birds, sweet smelling blooms, and lots of stitching inspiration!

Until next month,
Stay stitching,
