October  News

Happy Fall! Pumpkins everywhere, footballs in the air, Chrysanthemums in full bloom in nurseries and gardens, and I just received a beautiful fat quarter bundle of Jo Morton's newest Moda line, Spice It Up! I love this time of year! Here's what's happening ...

Academy of Applique

There are still a few spots left in my class, "Romantic Baskets" at the Academy of Applique, Mar. 4-9, 2019, in Historic Williamsburg. As a student last year, I can share this is one of the best stitching conferences I have attended! I am honored and excited to be teaching this year.

Email our host Barbara Blanton, or call her at (757) 565-5299 to sign up.  Hope to see you there!

For more  Information click on 2019 Classes tab. There you will find the registration form, class information, and Supply List.

On the Design Wall

Lately my mind is racing with ideas for new projects and patterns. Here is a sneak peak of an upcoming pattern in the works, My Favorite Flowers

The first block is the Lilacs block.  Growing up, I loved the fragrance of the backyard lilacs breezing through the windows on Spring mornings.

Any guesses on my other favorite flowers?

You never know what will appear when the doorbell rings! Today's treasure was Jo Morton's newest Moda line, Spice It Up! I think my Fall Design Wall needs a small pieced quilt inspired by these beautiful fabrics!

For Your Quilting Library

I've shared previously one of my favorite magazines is Inspirations . It definitely is as advertised, "The world's most beautiful needlework magazine."

In 2016, Inspirations published this book,  A Passion for Needlework. It has up close photographs detailing exquisite needlework and is filled with projects and instructions that will truly inspire you.

Coming in October, Inspirations will release their second book in this series, A Passion for Needlework/Factoria II. If this second book follows the quality of their magazines and the first book, we will definitely want a copy on our bookshelves.

Stitching Companions

"Mom, do you need my help?" Doogan is always there for me!

Here he is helping me work on my Woodland Whimsy blocks. I hope to have another one or two of these blocks to share with you next month!

In Closing

May your days be filled with the joy of Autumn, sweet crisp apples fresh from the orchard, pumpkin lattes, rustling leaves, vibrant Fall colors, a chilly day sipping cinnamon spice tea, and of course, time with needle and thread!

Until November,
Stay stitching,
