New Class!
,

Where has this year gone? Summer is officially here and the 4th of July celebrations are upon us! It's a busy time in the sewing room preparing for fall and 2020 classes, working on new projects, and taking a little time to sit back, sip some ice tea and enjoy perusing new quilt books and magazines.
On the Road Again

I went home to Pittsburgh for a few days last month. My sisters and I were all home at the same time, which is a rarity. What do you think was on the top of our To Do List? Yes...a day trip with mom to visit surrounding quilt shops!

After nine years, it is still a delight when I wonder into a shop and see  one of my books ! Thank you all for your on-going support!

Here are two of the great shops and owners (Mary Beth and Rhonda) we had the pleasure of visiting. Be sure to check them out!  Quilters Corner and  The Quilting Needle. You won't be disappointed!
On the Design Wall

The design wall and cutting table are full of fabrics, threads and ribbons! There are projects in the works for fall classes and new classes for 2020!

New "old" blocks will be revealed in the next several months. I am excited to share them with you! Here is a sneak peek of one.

In the meantime, I am in heaven working with beautiful wool threads , gimp , pearl cottons, flosses silk ribbons , wool fabric , and rediscovering some yummy fabrics in my stash!
In The Classroom

NEW! Embroidery Sampler Book
2nd Saturday of each month, September  2019 through January 2020, 10:30 am - 12:30pm
Cinnamon's  Quilt Shoppe

I have had numerous requests for an embroidery class that would not involve another UFO project. I think this one may fit the bill!

You'll learn numerous stitches and techniques . Two options will be offered for turning the samples into pages for a small embroidery sample book. A great reference book for your other projects!

Heartsong - Hand Needleturn Applique
2nd Saturday of each month, September 2019 through January 2020, 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Cinnamon's  Quilt Shoppe

If you've always wanted to learn hand needle turn appliqué or improve your technique, this sweet design by Elly Sienkiewicz is a perfect place to start. OR, if you have an appliqué project you would like to work on or to improve your appliqué skills, bring it to class.

In this class, you will discover an easy prep method for hand applique, along with tips for pointy points, smooth curves and inside corners. The soft scalloped border on Elly's Heartsong design adds a touch of elegance to this 24" x 24"  finished block.

Lil' Needle Books

Cinnamon's  Quilt Shoppe

One of my newest patterns, these little needle books will become treasured heirlooms in your sewing basket.

NOTE: Sign-up information for these three classes will be available on the website in the next couple of weeks.
For Your Library

The A-Z Series of embroidery books are must haves for a good appliqué/embroidery/quilting library.

The A-Z of Stumpwork book is just one of the awesome books in this popular series.  This is one of my go-to books whenever I choose to add stumpwork to a design.   I love using stumpwork, also known as surface embroidery, in my designs. It lends a delightful dimension to any project.

This book offers over 400 step-by-step photos and 20 designs to try your hand at this exquisite art. Everything you need to know from what materials to use, helpful tools, transferring designs, to stitch/technique instructions are within these pages!

Stitching Companions

At the end of the day, in the quiet of the evening when my feet are up and stitching is in hand, it warms my heart to have the company of these two right by my side.

The gentle rhythm of my needle coincides with Sophia's and Doogan's rhythmic snoring. My Stitching Companions and handwork are good for calming my soul and overall health!

I just read an article on the benefits of sewing and thought you might enjoy it too.   Read more...
In Closing

As we celebrate the 4th of July, may we remember and honor all those who serve and have served, and be ever thankful to all who make America a sweet land of liberty and freedom.

Until next month,
Stay stitching,
