Changed Into His Image
By Ellen G. White, Reflecting Christ, January 6, p. 20
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
-- 2 Corinthians 3:18
Sin-burdened, struggling souls, Jesus in His glorified humanity has ascended into the heavens to make intercession for us. “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace.” We should be continually looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith; for by beholding Him we shall be changed into His image, our character will be made like His. We should rejoice that all judgment is given to the Son, because in His humanity He has become acquainted with all the difficulties that beset humanity.
To be sanctified is to become a partaker of the divine nature, catching the spirit and mind of Jesus, ever learning in the school of Christ. “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” It is impossible for any of us by our own power or our own efforts to work this change in ourselves. It is the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, which Jesus said He would send into the world, that changes our character into the image of Christ; and when this is accomplished, we reflect, as in a mirror, the glory of the Lord. That is, the character of the one who thus beholds Christ is so like His, that one looking at him sees Christ's own character shining out as from a mirror. Imperceptibly to ourselves, we are changed day by day from our ways and will into the ways and will of Christ, into the loveliness of His character. Thus we grow up into Christ, and unconsciously reflect His image.
Professed Christians keep altogether too near the lowlands of earth. Their eyes are trained to see only commonplace things, and their minds dwell upon the things their eyes behold. Their religious experience is often shallow and unsatisfying, and their words are light and valueless. How can such reflect the image of Christ? How can they send forth the bright beams of the Sun of Righteousness into all the dark places of the earth? To be a Christian is to be Christlike....
[Enoch] was ever under the influence of Jesus. He reflected Christ's character, exhibiting the same qualities in goodness, mercy, tender compassion, sympathy, forbearance, meekness, humility and love. His association with Christ day by day transformed him into the image of Him with whom he was so intimately connected.—The Review and Herald, December 5, 1912.

Happy Friday and Preparation Day! As we draw close to the Sabbath hours, let us reflect on the following:
"Before the Sabbath begins, the mind as well as the body should be withdrawn from worldly business. God has set His Sabbath at the end of the six working days, that men may stop and consider what they have gained during the week in preparation for the pure kingdom..." -- Testimonies to the Church, Vol, 6, p. 356

Oregon Youth Rush is still accepting applications. Do you know someone who is still looking for a summer job?
So what is Youth Rush? Youth Rush, also known as literature evangelism, canvassing, or colporteuring, puts a new face on one of our church's most long-standing ministries.
Now a youth-led, student-oriented ministry, Youth Rush offers students the opportunity to share their faith while earning money for their education. If you choose to use your earnings towards Adventist education, most Academies/Universities will match it in the form of a scholarship. The matching percentage varies.
In this ten-week summer program, students ages 16-25 work together, worship together, grow together, and have fun. Highly-trained team leaders offer training and supervision.
Most importantly, participants are invigorated spiritually as they experience the joy of service and the blessing that comes from literature evangelism.
The program begins and ends on June 5, 2022, through August 11, 2022. You must be 16 or over by June 5, 2022, and be able to work in the United States.
Please reach out for any further questions.

Impact Your Health PDX 2022 needs student backpacks! Most school districts now give the students the supplies they need for school, but the family is expected to supply a backpack. We would like to help fill that need! Impact Your Health served over a hundred families with school supplies a couple of years ago. At our July 8 and 10, 2022 clinic, we would like for any child who cannot afford a backpack to be able to receive one. Donations of a backpack, or of money to purchase backpacks, are most appreciated. We'll need small, medium, and large sizes. You may drop the backpacks off at the Oregon Conference office at 19800 Oatfield Road, Portland, or Hood View Church at 26775 SE Kelso Road, Boring, or at Portland Adventist Academy at 1500 SE 96th Ave., Portland 97216.

You won't miss the fish in this smoky, savory vegan carrot lox recipe! Piled onto bagels with all the classic fixings, it's just as good as the real thing. I have to admit, I was skeptical when I first tried this carrot lox recipe last spring.
