NEWS FROM IGNITE CAREER CENTER
It’s officially Spring, which means it’s graduate hiring season. The good news? “Employers plan to hire 26.6% more new graduates from the Class of 2022 than they did from the Class of 2021, according to NACE’s Job Outlook 2022 report.” Here’s how to make sure you are one of the graduates who walks away with an offer.
INTERVIEWING TIPS FOR NEW GRADS
Inexperience bias is real. Here's how to overcome it.
Demonstrate you understand how to collaborate with others, can research to find answers, and know how to behave professionally. Keep these things in mind:
·      Identify relevant experiences
·      Research the job requirements
·      Highlight transferrable skills
·      Answer “What’s your weakness?” directly

DEAR CAREER COACH
Do employers care about your age?
Employers have so much to consider in these rapidly changing times. Do they want to invest in virtually training someone in an entirely new career or in technology proficiency? Do they want to spend time investing in a candidate who might want to stay remote after the pandemic is over or one who will prefer to return to the office? Either way, the employer must make an investment, and their decision will vary by virtue of their organization’s field, business model, and core principles.

So, instead of focusing on your age, get clear on your skills and values. Expend your energy on what you can control. We all have enough to worry about. When you job hunt, your age should not make that list. Remember, age is just a number and stay assured that the right opportunity will arrive.
