Coming to Weed & Elm in New Canaan?

Why should you care that a massive housing project is about to hit New Canaan?

Predatory developers plan to destroy this neighborhood -- snarling traffic, crowding schools, crushing home values, and casting a once safe and quiet street into the shadow of a high-density high rise. If you live near our peaceful, historic corner of New Canaan, this project will turn your home life upside down. Everything you moved here for is at stake.

So what? Too bad for Weed Street and New Canaan. Why should anyone else care?

If they destroy Weed Street, they could come for your neighborhood next. Every Soviet-era housing project that they erect gives them the money and influence to build the next one, and the one after that and the one after that until there is nothing left of the town you once knew. If our community fails to stop them here, they will become unstoppable.

What have we done so far?

We raised $40k of the $50k that we need today to be on track to fund our legal defense. If we succeed, we will grow this effort to protect other New Canaan neighborhoods and other Fairfield County towns from predatory developers that use the state housing law to blackmail communities for profit. Let's stop them here before they get to your neighborhood or town.

What can you do to help today?

  1. Sign - Show our local elected leaders that our community is large and unified.
  2. Give - Provide the resources to battle predatory outside developers in court.
  3. Join - Get the latest accurate information on this rapidly developing battle.

Thank you to everyone who has taken those initial three steps. Please respond to this email with any questions or interest in doing more. We are organizing smaller task forces that will take on state-level advocacy, local municipal advocacy, and larger scale fundraising for the $100-200k necessary for our next legal actions to protect our neighborhood and town.

Gratefully,
