"Getting it Right From the Start"

A team member walks in with a problem, and before they finish explaining it, we say, "I'll check it out." That's the moment the problem, or as management guru Ken Blanchard calls it, the monkey, jumps from their back to ours. The fix isn't taking it on. It's asking the right questions: "What have you already tried?" "What do you think we should do?" Questions like these keep the responsibility where it belongs, while you stay engaged and supportive.
