e're staying open late to host a pop-up market with a mystery salvage sale;
local art;
a food truck dinner; craft beer & wine; and live blues, rhythm, and roots music.
Admission is FREE so invite your friends & neighbors, and bring your family! All ages (and friendly, leashed pets) are welcome.
When: This Friday, June 2nd, 6pm - 8pm
Where: Community Forklift - 4671 Tanglewood Drive, Edmonston MD 20781 (5 minutes outside NE DC in the Hyattsville area)
Who: You, your friends, family, kids, neighbors, co-workers, and (friendly, leashed) dogs. We've even had a few meetup groups and blind dates attend!
Cost: Entry is free - but you can support your local artists and businesses by purchasing their wares and tipping the band.
What: Check out the lineup below...
We'll have an extra special 2-hour sale during First Friday. We'll announce the details online just before the party starts.
Live music:
We're excited to welcome newcomers to the Forklift stage: Jackson, Oziel & Moss with their blues, rhythm, & roots music! David Jackson, David Oziel, and Howard Moss met at the Archie Edwards Blues Heritage Foundation's jam in Riverdale, Maryland. Their passion for the blues led to an immediate bonding. They formed the band, DC Mudd in 2015, and have represented the DC Blues Society at international competitions.
Dinner from Spud Nation:
Spud Nation is a food truck owned by farmers, delivering a fresh, field-to-fork, potato menu for a truly unique experience.
Local artists:
Marie-B Cilia De Amicis considers herself not an artist, nor a photographer, but rather "just a 'button pusher' who tries to capture the evanescence of the light and the bliss of the moment."
Joe Rogers
is back again this month with his cryptic style paintings that often depicting iconic Madonnas, beast-like creatures, and, sometimes, darkly (and often female) religious images.
Nancy Sims
is a multi-decade visual artist who believes that art, purposed with love, joy and caring, can create a zone where hearts connect and agree, even if for just a moment in time.
Pat Doyen is an artist who works in fine-art photography, film & video, and photo-based prints. The boundaries of these fields often overlap in her art.
Can't make it?

Community Partner Spotlight
The Greater Washington Urban League
The Greater Washington Urban League (GWUL) is a nonprofit community service organization that has guided individuals on the road to self-sufficiency for more than 75 years. Their Home Purchase Assistance Program enables lower- and moderate-income individuals and families to purchase affordable housing in Washington, D.C.
After the settlement process, individuals and families start working to fix up their properties and make their new residences feel more like home, which can be costly-- that's where Community Forklift comes in to help!
To support individuals and families after the buying process is complete, we provide GWUL with $250 gift certificates
to Community Forklift, to be included in each client's welcome basket.
That's enough to get a young family started with a washing machine and dryer, to save time and money spent going to the laundromat. Or maybe a bathroom needs renovating, in which case the certificate could cover a toilet, a vanity with a sink, a medicine cabinet,
and
a bathtub!
