Update: August 2025

The Center's team of 12 volunteers, donors, and board members are back from a life-changing trip to Kenya and Rwanda. Scroll down for multiple reports on people helping people, thanks to the support of our donors like you throughout the year! As there is so much to share, we will be sure to share more from our trip to Africa in future newsletters and on social media.

Dedication of Homes

The Center collaborates with the Methodist Treatment Centre and the Maua Methodist Hospital to identify vulnerable families and orphans who need a safe space to reside. During our time in Kenya, we were able to dedicate two homes including a new home for Elizabeth Kinya and her children and grandchildren. She and her family no longer have to seek shelter in the rain season due to leaky roof.

Helping Orphans by Providing Essentials

Because of your support, the Center helps 315 children, most who have lost a parent due to AIDS, with their education, nutrition, and health care. One of the highlights of our journey was spending time with these beautiful children who are given a chance to succeed in life due to your generosity. Glorie Gitonga, who oversees the children as a social worker, and whose salary is paid for by the Center, is an orphan herself. She was recognized in June by the community as the "Best Human Right Activist in Meru."

Medical Camps for the Community

On July 12, our team of 12 had the privilege of helping the Treatment Centre put on its second of four medical camps planned for 2025 due to donor support. Over 400 members of the Meru community attended where services ranged from basic health check-ups, including eye tests and distribution of glasses, to the dispensing of essential medications.

Rwanda Projects

Our time in Rwanda was spent with our partner, Augustin Bahati, and his organization Inclusive Mission for Health and Hope. We are currently writing grants to fund a greenhouse project, with hopes to move forward by year's end. Current projects include nutritional support for 320 students, health insurance for 123 families, and a post-secondary scholarship for a promising young woman named Charity. Our work in recent months includes supporting those caught in the middle of the military conflict in Rwanda and Congo.

Swinging@AIDS Golf Tournament

Over 100 golfers and sponsors came together for a fun day at Denver's City Park Golf Course on August 5.

Close to $40k was raised to help those impacted by HIV and AIDS in India. Thank you for your generosity!
