You're Invited to Hope's Disco Gala!

Communications,

Don your grooviest bell bottoms, platform shoes, afros, and shiny suits, and bring your good vibes to Hope Community Resources' Disco Gala on Saturday, September 21, 2024! Our 56th annual auction event is turning retro for an evening of groovy tunes, mellow décor, and funky fun, while supporting Alaskans who experience disabilities and their families.

Thanks to supporters like you, Hope has made a difference in Alaskan communities for more than 55 years, and we’d like to invite you to celebrate that achievement. Our auction thrives to the max on the support and generosity of people like you. We’re excited to present a far-out evening featuring dinner, live and silent auctions, and opportunities to connect with fellow Alaskans who share a passion for making a difference. The auction will include unique travel experiences, one-of-a-kind art pieces, tons of themed baskets, and more—something for everyone to bid on!

Event: Hope Disco Gala

Date: Saturday, September 21, 2024

Time: 6:00pm - 9:30pm

Location: Dena'ina Civic Center, 600 W 7th Ave, Anchorage, AK 99501

Tickets: $125 each / $1,175 for table of 10

Purpose: To raise funds to meet the needs of Alaskans with disabilities and fund Hope's unfunded programs, supports, and services

There are three radical ways you can support Hope and contribute to our Disco Gala!

  • Sponsor the event. Show your support for Hope’s mission and help us achieve our fundraising goals by choosing from multiple sponsorship opportunities.
  • Purchase tickets. Gather your family, friends, and coworkers, and join us for a groovy night! Reserve individual seats or take advantage of a discount when you buy a full table.
  • Donate to the auction. Donate funds or in-kind items to add to the exciting array of bidding opportunities.

If you attend or donate to our Disco Gala, you will make a vibrant difference in the lives of people who experience disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, and mental health challenges. Your generosity will help fund programs such as recreational activities, summer camp, and inclusive community events. It will provide assistive technology that promote independence, and safe and accessible housing that improves quality of life. And it will fund unmet needs such as medical care, therapeutic services, and emergency financial aid. Help us meet our goal of raising $100,000.

So, mark your calendars for the 21st night of September, 2024 and get ready for a groovy night at our Disco Gala!

Get your tickets before August 10, and receive an early bird discount using the promo code GROOVY15.

Happy Hope Anniversary to John Nelson

Congratulations and thank you to John Nelson for his milestone of 25 years with Hope!

John is a consistent, reliable, and dedicated team member. He shows compassion and empathy towards both the individuals he works with and the staff. He and his wife, Alma—who has also been with Hope for 25 years—manage one of our assisted living homes in Anchorage, and being able to work side by side with his family is one of the things he values most about being at Hope all these years. When asked what he enjoys most about working at Hope, he said it’s seeing the individuals’ reactions after they have accomplished something they haven’t done before. He also enjoys being welcomed home with smiles from people who don't smile often.

John and his wife have a daughter and son, a son-in-law, a four-year-old grandson, and a Yorky named Boomer. His hobbies are camping and fishing, but his number one hobby is running after his grandson.
