Stories of Hope

May 2023 Newsletter

One team. One community.

A whole lot of support.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in Anchorage, Kenai, and Kodiak for our 54th Walk and Roll for Hope event. Your participation, registration fee and any amount of money you raised or donated is a direct investment into the lives of people with differing abilities.

All funds raised help support Alaskans who experience an intellectual or developmental disability to live a full and meaningful life.

For 54 years, Hope has focused on removing barriers and building bridges to meaningful lives. The Walk & Roll for Hope has been a vital source of revenue all along, raising funds to augment the ever-growing needs that are fundamental to the continuation of quality programs and services for the people who choose our supports.

Your participation helps to provide necessary funds to stabilize and maintain services to Alaskans who experience an intellectual or developmental disability, a traumatic brain injury, or a mental health challenge.

Employee Spotlight - Lamin Kanteh

We’d like to introduce you to Lamin Kanteh, an Intensive Supports Associate who celebrated his 20-year anniversary with Hope this month!

Lamin is a very hard-working team member, known by his coworkers as being a team collaborator who is solid and consistent in the supports he provides. He is calm under pressure, even during highly escalated incidents with people who experience physically aggressive behaviors. The residents all know him and look forward to when he comes on shift. He diligently completes all of his assignments, provides critical coverage whenever possible, and often stays a little bit after his shift to make sure incoming staff have all the information and updates they need to be successful.

Congratulations and thank you, Lamin, for dedicating 20 years to serving the individuals and families who choose Hope!
