MVOB is dedicated to providing comfort and support not only to children and youth in the foster care system but also to other children in need. While the majority of our handmade blankets are specifically crafted for those in foster care, our mission extends to helping children facing various challenging circumstances. MVOB recognizes that children beyond the foster care system may also require comfort and hope. In response to this, we have supplied a small number of blankets to children in need due to natural disasters, emergency situations, and domestic violence situations through our partnership with nonprofit organizations.
The visionary leadership of our CEO has been instrumental in expanding MVOB's impact. Our unique approach is to provide blankets to children locally where they are made. By aligning our mission with local communities, we ensure that our impact is not only widespread but also tailored to the specific needs of each region.
In November, MVOB provided 200 handmade blankets to children who recently arrived in American Fork, Utah. MVOB partnered with Lifting Hands International (LHI), a nonprofit that provides humanitarian aid to individuals and children arriving in the US. LHI provided each new child with a blanket as well as a few toys or school supplies. LHI staff member Traci shared photos of one family.
Six year old twins, brother and sister, arrived in Utah on January 30th and were greeted by MVOB’s handmade quilts on their beds. They were reunited with their father, from The Democratic Republic of Congo, after being separated for five long years.
