STORM ADVENTURE RACE

Who doesn't love Type 2 Fun?

We promised adventure and this year, the weather got in on the act. With over 700 racers competing over two days, we nervously checked the forecast earlier in the week, hoping that the cold, rainy Saturday in the forecast was simply some over-cautious weather model. Nope. Misty to start, but then our Advanced and Long course racers enjoyed a steady, cold, windy rain that just stuck around. We had cold and soggy racers, but it was impressive to see everyone just get on with the trekking, biking and paddling. Can't get cold when you keep moving, right? Congratulations to everyone who slogged their way through the course.

Sunday turned out to be a better day for our Short course racers, although Saturday's rain forced us to cancel the paddle section and soggy trails required some course adjustments and made for some sloppy riding (or pushing...).

The one constant across both days? Smiling racers pushing themselves and having fun. It was great to see fast teams, slow teams, teams of friends, and families racing together. If you haven't already, click the button below to find the full results for both days on our website.

Pics or it didn't happen, right?

Oh, we've got your pics, all thanks to the BEST photography team. How many pics, you ask? Only 3,971 pictures! Hope you were smiling.

New for this year, we're hosting our pictures on Geosnapshot.com. The main reason for trying this platform is to help make it easy for racers to find your images. You can search either by race number, by time, or by facial recognition by uploading a selfie. We tried it with Bob and it works pretty well.

Special thanks to photographers; Luis Moreira, Derek Carpenter, Geoff Allen, plus other race staff & volunteers who were all over the course capturing some fantastic imagery!

When you share pics on your socials (and we know you will), please remember to TAG us (IG @stormracingevents FB @stormracing).

Pro Tip: When your friends see your race pics and comment "Whoa, that's looks cool", the correct response is "Yes, it's amazing. You need to do it next time!". We want to see you all back next year and bringing more racers!

A strong team or it DOESN'T happen, right?

A special thanks to all the volunteers who came out and supported participants over a great weekend of racing. With more than 700 racers to keep track of, everyone pitched in to ensure all made it home safely and were cheered on along the way!

Great support or it CAN'T happen, right?

A weekend like Storm doesn't happen without the support of organizations, land-owners, and sponsors.

Thanks to Toronto and Region Conservation Authority and Albion Hills, Bolton and the Municipality of Caledon for letting us play in their backyards. Thanks to Algonquin Outfitters for prizing and supplying the SMALL NAVY of canoes. Thanks to Harmon's Craft Brewing, Duffy Homestead, and Squirt Cycling Products for prizing and support and thanks to our caterers Cookies by Gia who provided your delicious post-race meal.

Thanks to the Caledon Hills Cycling Club and Chico Racing for their maintenance and development on the trails you got to ride. If you want more Albion Hills racing on your bike, sign up for Chico's 24 Hour Summer Solstice race coming up on June 26-28.

Helping the trails we get to use

A big part of this year's Storm course was the Humber Valley, including using the Heritage Trail network. We always like to give back to the communities where we race and thanks to many of you who donated during registration to support the Humber Valley Heritage Trail Assocation.

Adventure Racing is a team sport: Moms Shelby and Allison from team Pump, Pedal & Paddle took on the Short course while their husbands and wee ones set up camp beside the finish line to wait and cheer on their racers.
