Hunterdon Commissioners Assess Ida Effects In Hard Hit River Towns
Hunterdon County’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM), Department of Public Works (DPW) and Buildings and Maintenance Division have been cleaning up from the storm and assisting with recovery efforts due to Tropical Storm Ida, Hunterdon County Board Commissioner Shaun C. Van Doren announced during an assessment tour of hard hit areas over the weekend.

Commissioner Van Doren said, “The storm affected many parts of the county, but damage was significantly worse in towns that border the Delaware River. Flooding was sudden and caused damage for many miles across several communities. 

It was devastating to see firsthand what flood waters can do and on Labor Day, the Commissioner Director and I observed those damages in Lambertville, Delaware Township, and Bloomsbury.”

Hunterdon Courthouse Glows Gold To Fight Childhood Cancer
 
Head Shaving Fund Raising Event Sept 26 At Sergeantsville Fire House
Hunterdon County’s Historic Courthouse in Flemington is glowing gold throughout September, by order of the County’s Board of Commissioners, in recognition of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation ‘Light It Up Gold’ for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, supporting efforts to find a cure for childhood cancer.
 
Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners Deputy Director John E. Lanza, the sponsor of the Proclamation supporting the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, stated, “The volunteers of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, led in Hunterdon County by Linda and David Swackhamer of Delaware Township, work tirelessly in fundraising for childhood cancer research.

County Schedules Virtual American Rescue Funds Community Outreach Session Sept. 14
Hunterdon County Commissioner Shaun C. Van Doren has announced that the County will conduct a virtual Community Outreach session, soliciting public input on the potential uses of federal American Rescue funds, on September 14 at 5:30 pm.

Due to the effects of Tropical Storm Ida the Landsdown Trail can only be accessed from Frontage Road or Main Street Clinton.

The Lower Landsdown Road section in Franklin Township will be closed for a quarter of a mile until further notice while repairs are completed.

FEMA ASSISTANCE

September 6, 2021, President Joe Biden Jr. has approved the New Jersey Disaster Declaration from Tropical Storm Ida.  This action makes FEMA Individual Assistance funding available to those affected in Hunterdon County.
