Cleanup & Power Restoration Efforts Continue Today
City crews and DTE Energy continue working today on storm cleanup and power restoration following yesterday's severe storms and high winds.
The City estimates that approximately 20 to 30 trees were brought down throughout Grosse Pointe Farms. As a result, many neighborhoods remain without power due to fallen trees, branches, and damaged power lines.
Since the storm began, the Public Safety Department has responded to 57 storm-related incidents, including 24 reports of downed power lines or wires. Crews have also responded to several small fires involving trees and other vegetation.
DTE Energy and Xfinity crews are working throughout the City to restore utility service and assess damage. Because the outages are widespread, some residents may experience extended power outages while repairs are completed.
Storm Debris Collection
To help expedite storm debris collection, residents are asked to cut tree limbs and other woody debris into sections no longer than four feet. Bundling debris is optional at this time but is appreciated, as it helps Department of Public Works crews collect materials more quickly and efficiently.
