Storm Debris Pick-Up

A special collection of storm debris will take place on October 10th. Do NOT block roadways. Items CAN NOT be in bags.

Residents may place tree limbs, tree trunks, branches, and vegetation debris in a pile on the easement. Debris on the roadways can result in a fine to the homeowner. Do NOT place in bags or containers. Only negative items should be in this pile. If a pile is mixed with bulk items or garbage bags of leaves, it will not be picked up.

Bags of leaves should be saved for WastePro yard waster later this month. Furniture, construction debris, and other building materials will be picked up later this month.

Disaster Assistance

Volusia County residents who have been adversely impacted by Hurricane Ian may apply for Individual Assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Available assistance may include grants to pay for temporary housing, emergency home repairs, uninsured and underinsured personal property losses, and medical, dental and funeral expenses caused by the disaster, together with other serious disaster-related expenses.

You can apply online at www.disasterassistance.gov, through the FEMA app, or by calling 800-621-3362. Representatives will be available to take calls through this number from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The county will serve as a resource to assist residents in applying for FEMA assistance. The DeBary Public Library has internet access and staff who are ready to help residents submit applications. The address for the DeBary Public Library is 200 N. Charles R. Beall Blvd.

CANCELLED - Hazardous Waste Clean-Up Day

Due to Hurricane Ian, we have had to cancel the hazardous waste clean-up day at City Hall. Stay tuned with DeBuzz and our Facebook for updates on rescheduling.

Residents can always bring their household hazardous waste for free disposal year-round to the Tomoka Landfill, 1990 Tomoka Farms Road, Port Orange; or the West Volusia Transfer Station, 3151 E. New York Ave., DeLand. The landfill is open from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The transfer station is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Both facilities provide free paint exchange programs and electronic waste recycling.”
