VOLUNTEERS

We love having parent volunteers in the classroom and on field trips. It is our policy (A & B) to require all volunteers that may be alone with a student for any given amount of time to be fingerprinted for a background check. If you'd like to participate in field trips or volunteer in the future, please connect with Heather Cook in the office to pick up the forms required before going to the PD for fingerprinting. The background check takes 6-8 weeks, so please keep that in mind, as no volunteers will be allowed to participate without the background check completed.

PICK UP LINE

As a reminder, the pick up and drop off line is one-way. Please enter by the police station, stay to the right before turning left to go around the lower lot and then up the hill to the school. Please do not block the exit out of the lower lot and pull up to the two drop off spots at the school. Please have your students ready to get out of the car to ensure a quick drop off for everyone. Thank you for helping to keep this a safe process.

Wellness Policy

Our School Board is working on approving our Wellness Policy to have it meet federal guidelines. There are a few changes coming in the policy that we will want to start discussing, since it will be a change for everyone. The focus is on wellness. There’s aspects of the plan that talk about getting outside and ensuring daily movement. We will be working on finding ways to celebrate in school that aren’t food based, and we can save the special sweets for home. More information will be coming, and we will be sharing some specific ideas and guidance, but we don’t want it to come as a total surprise.

Classroom Spotlight

This Week in Technology

The 5th through 8th grade classes are currently designing and building catapults in Technology Lab. Starting with a concept drawing, to the building and ultimately the testing phase, the classes are learning about elastic power sources and how to effectively use them with a catapult. Everyone has been excited for this challenge as the designs have been very creative and powerful! Basic engineering has also been a component, as they test out their catapults, they are figuring out that the first design always needs adjusting or reworking. They are competing against one another to see who finishes on top with the ultimate catapult in three categories: Strongest Design, Throw for Distance and Destructive Power.

This Week in 1st Grade

Welcome to Hansonville! Mrs. Hanson’s first graders created a town for our social studies unit “Me on the Map”.

Students in Ms. Braga's class showcase the pumpkins they made this week. They also practiced saying letter sounds in a mirror to see how their mouth forms the sound.

Ms. Grant's class made apple rafts! They enjoyed building and exploring how to ask a question, plan, create and test out their creations! They also exploring where they live. They have focused on their homes, neighborhoods, town, state, country and world!
