Strangers in a Strange Land
Every Dollar You Give will be Matched!

In the coming weeks, our community will become haven to nearly 500 evacuees from Afghanistan.

No one understands being strangers in a strange land more than the Jewish people.

We know how frightening it is to leave one’s home and move to a new country. The worry about learning a new language and culture, finding work and a home, and caring for one’s family can be overwhelming.

And even with federal assistance, there is a significant cost to support the high volume of these evacuees in such a short period of time.

And that’s where you come in.

Our Jewish Family Services (JFS) is taking the lead among the refugee organizations in WNY to support both the funding and the services provided to these individuals, and your Buffalo Jewish Federation and Foundation for Jewish Philanthropies are providing matching funds for every dollar you give this week of up to $25,000.
Last week alone, we raised over $10,000 toward our goal of $25,000.

So many have come together to support this important and time-sensitive cause and we are confident that with the continued support of you and others, we will reach that goal.

Please consider making a gift today – large or small – your gift will double in size and go directly to supporting the needs of our newest Buffalonians.
If you prefer to send a check, please make your check payable to: Buffalo Jewish Federation and note that it is for the Afghan Evacuee Fund.
