A message from Dean Barbara Bass to our Academic Medical Enterprise community:

This Strategic Plan for our academic medical enterprise builds upon our past successes and articulates an updated mission and vision that will guide our actions over the next several years. As discussed during recent Town Hall meetings, this Strategic Plan establishes 12 goals embedded across four thematic pillar areas: Education, Research, Clinical Care, and Population Health and Health Equity

The plan was informed by representatives and stakeholders from across our academic medical enterprise. I am grateful to all who participated in that development process. Moving forward, we welcome ideas and input from each of you on how we can best achieve our shared goals. If you have feedback or suggestions, I encourage you to email your thoughts to SMHSnews@gwu.edu. Your comments will be forwarded to the appropriate pillar leader listed below:

Collectively, this leadership group and I will be reviewing your feedback and engagement as we move forward with implementation of the plan. We will provide you with updates and accomplishments on a regular basis.

Again, I personally thank all who contributed to the development of this plan, with special recognition to Senior Associate Dean Dr. Lawrence “Bopper” Deyton, who led our planning steering committee. I thank you for your support and leadership in crafting this plan to guide our ambitions as a unified academic medical enterprise over the next few years.

With regards,
