Dear EMS Community,

One week ago today, about 100 participants from our community, including families, educators, and school leaders, gathered on campus for Visioning Day, giving their time and talent to ensure that our forthcoming strategic plan is representative of as many community members — and informed by as much great thinking — as possible.

We emerged from this invigorating process with a clearer and more inclusive understanding of potential overarching goals and steps toward achieving them. This understanding was shaped by the rich discoveries gathered from our focus groups, community survey, and individual conversations, providing valuable insights that framed our plan. We then brainstormed innovative ideas, exploring opportunities and imagining new possibilities to elevate our school’s future. Participants collaborated in small groups to prioritize these goals, define actionable steps, and ultimately shape a shared vision for the school. With deep appreciation, we thank our participants for their engaged thoughtfulness and creativity.

We also extend a special thanks to our eighth graders who attended. Their contributions highlighted the importance of student agency and expressed enthusiasm for the possible academic enhancements discussed. They exemplified our Vision of the EMS Graduate, and we could not be more proud.

In the coming months, planning committees will review the insights and actionable items resulting from our workshops, focus groups, influencer interviews, and community survey and shape them into our strategic plan, to launch during the spring.

We know that, with the continued participation and support of our generous, generative community, these efforts will lead us to a strategic plan that ensures EMS can continue its growth as a premier educational institution, providing a transformative education to the infinitely capable generations to come.

With gratitude,
