Innovation Valley 2025 launches at TVDSB

On March 4, Thames Valley officially kicked off Innovation Valley 2025 — a six-week learning experience for 160 elementary students from 16 different schools, wrapping up with a two-day event at Fanshawe College in April.

In partnership with Fanshawe, students are exploring real-world problems connected to the United Nations’ Net Zero 2050 goal. They'll take part in a pitch competition, where they present a realistic, local solution to reduce carbon emissions, and a robotics challenge using LEGO Spike Primes to complete carbon-reducing missions.

The goal? To show students how hands-on, real-world learning connects directly to what they’re doing now in elementary school and how it can lead to future opportunities in secondary programs, post-secondary pathways, and careers. Along the way, students are building critical skills like collaboration, problem-solving, and creative thinking that will support them at every stage of their learning journey.

We’re excited to see what these young innovators come up with!

Stoney Creek students visit the

Canadian Medical Hall of Fame

Ms. Clark-Shody’s grade 7 class from Stoney Creek Public School spent a week at the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame as part of the immersive Museum School London program.

Students explored the topics of Alzheimer’s, skin cancer and DNA through hands-on learning and simulations.

The experience helped students discover real-world careers in health care fields like diagnostic imaging.

Thank you to the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame for hosting this unique interactive learning opportunity for Thames Valley students.

Ramadan celebrations across

Thames Valley

Many schools and Muslim Student Associations across Thames Valley hosted Iftar gatherings during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, where students and community came together to break fast, connect and reflect. Events featured a variety of activities and guest speakers, including presentations from faith leaders, former students and the Muslim Soup Kitchen. Pictured above is the delicious Iftar meal shared at Westminster Secondary School's annual Iftar Night, held on Thursday, March 20.

World Down Syndrome Day

On March 21, Thames Valley recognized World Down Syndrome Day. World Down Syndrome Day is a global awareness day officially observed by the United Nations since 2012. The 21st day of the third month was selected as World Down Syndrome Day to represent the uniqueness of the triplication, or trisomy, of the 21st chromosome, which causes Down Syndrome.

Many TVDSB schools, staff and students recognized World Down Syndrome Day by "rocking their socks!"
