Fresh food, farmers, and family time
Memorial Day weekend - the unofficial start of summer, and the promise of long, lazy days to come. This year we're especially grateful for the return of family gatherings, bbqs with friends, and simple pleasures like concerts and baseball games. While Memorial Day is a time to celebrate, it's also a time to remember. Our deepest thanks to all those who sacrificed their lives in service to our country.
PLEASE NOTE: In light of the Commonwealth of PA's announcement that Covid restrictions will be lifted beginning May 31st, the Easton Farmers' Market will be eliminating many of our directional, and pedestrian controls starting this Saturday. Rest assured that we will continue to adapt as needed and always do everything possible to maintain a safe, orderly shopping environment.

Fully vaccinated individuals are not required to wear masks. Please be respectful of all shoppers and remember that each person's situation is unique. Above all, bee kind.
FRESH PICKS OF THE WEEK
From the Field
Cabbage Throw Farm
Cabbage Throw Farm is offering an ever widening array of veggies. Exciting new additions this week include spring snap peas, broccolini, and organic strawberries grown by neighboring Comeback Farm.

Purple Kohlrabi is the featured vegetables this week. And while this weird and knobby veg usually stands as the butt of many veggie jokes, kohlrabi is surprisingly delicious. It is widely used as a sweet, juicy and colorful crunch to salads and can also be enjoyed on its own, sliced and dressed with olive, sea salt and herbs.

PEPPERY KOHLRABI SLAW

Peel and thinly slice kohlrabi, finely shred spring greens(suggested: gem lettuce or baby arugula), and cut French breakfast radish into quarters. Dress with lemon juice and peppery horseradish dressing.
Dressing:
175 g mayonnaise (substitute Greek yogurt)
59 g grated horseradish
2 hearty tsp of cracked black pepper
Phillips Farms
Sugar Snap Peas at Phillips Farms this week! And plenty of Strawberries for your Memorial Day picnics. Produce not to be missed this week includes: Rhubarb, Tomatoes, Broccoli, Asparagus, Spring Garlic, Fennel, Beets, Bok Choy, Leeks, Lettuce, Kale, Swiss Chard, fresh herbs and so much more. Credit cards accepted.

Salvaterra's Gardens
New this week are sweet carrots, fragrant fennel, and escarole! Check out these spring escarole recipes at Epicurious.

And brighten up your holiday potato salads, pasta salads and grilled meats with Salvaterra's beautiful fresh herbs - parsley, cilantro and dill!

Matt & Jess will also have head lettuce (romaine, red leaf, green leaf), lettuce mix, arugula, spinach, baby kale, baby chard, kale (tuscan, green, red), collards, swiss chard, pak choy, pea shoots, microgreens, scallions, red radishes, french breakfast radishes, red beets, and hakurei turnips.

*And don't miss a special fiddle performance by Serafina Salvaterra, on stage from 9-10am (weather permitting)!
Scholl Orchards
All work and no play make Farmer Ben a dull boy. Puppy playtime on the farm keeps everybody smiling. And so does the fact that peach season is coming early this year! But first come the cherries. Stop by and find out the ETAs on these two favorite fruits.

For this week the asparagus is still coming on strong - perfect for grilling at your holiday gatherings. Plus plenty of apples, fresh-pressed cider, and more.

Primordia Mushroom Farm
This weekend's forecast - cloudy with a 100% chance of Shiitake. That's right it's a Shiitake storm at Primordia so look for them to be on special this Saturday at $10/lb.
